Colonial architecture in India is proof of a time gone by, presenting a slice of British
India in current times. Some of these buildings today are used as important
government offices, while others are unfortunately perishing with time.
Cities such as Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai have fair share of British colonial
architecture still present, like in Pune. The cantonment which was built during the
time of the British, represents colonial architecture. These structures seem to be
perfect for ‘climate control’.
Having a museum showcasing the architectural styles, their evolution, adaption,
functions through models and their possible revival may help. As a visitor to such
museums, one can participate in better understanding of the history of Pune
Cantonment.
This is my Architectural Design 4th Semester Design Project.
