WELCOME!
Hi Team,
Welcome to Ashley Domination, 2024!
I’m excited to be back together for Domination, our annual leadership and cultural event.
This year has been a year of massive transformation for us at Ashley, even amidst the continued economic challenges. While these challenges have slowed our competitors down, it hasn’t stopped us. We Find a Way to maintain focus on our 4 pillars to keep Ashley relevant in the marketplace.
ˌ Product Relevance
Providing the strongest assortment in the industry
ˌ Continuous Improvement
Developing leaders through education and personal development
ˌ Blended Strategy
Embracing top talent and capabilities across the globe
ˌ Automation | Robotics | AI
Evolving our systems, data, and operations
We Find a Way to maintain Product Relevance. Over the last 18 months, we spent a massive amount of time overhauling our product line to ensure we have the proper designs and values for our customers.
In March, we successfully completed the acquisition of Resident Home. This has provided us with a tremendous opportunity to expand our home furnishings assortment and global footprint. Resident is a leader in digital retail and is an established wholesaler of mattresses and bedding accessories.
I’m proud to report that we’re already capitalizing on the massive synergies that have been identified!
We Find a Way to Continuous Improvement. This is still core to our DNA and is woven into what we do every day. It is our responsibility to continue to eliminate waste to provide the best value for our customers. Our teams have continued to embrace principles from The Toyota Way, as well as Value Stream Mapping to drive waste elimination.
We Find a Way to embrace a Blended Strategy for both product and global talent. We have rebalanced our supply chain and have used Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to identify the best source of supply by DC and customers. We’ve expanded our offices and operations in India, Vietnam, and China. Every department in the company is deploying a global talent strategy, and is utilizing the amazing talent we have internationally, that will complement the US teams. You’ll hear more about our Global Talent this week in one of the breakout sessions.
We Find a Way to innovate through Automation, Robotics and AI. We’re continuing to invest in robotics and automation to evolve and stay competitive with Asia manufacturing. We are making massive improvements and rethinking manufacturing for all facilities. We’ve continued to invest in AI and have high expectations for this capability and how it will improve data management and informed decision making.
Thank you for all you do at Ashley to continue to keep us number one. I am incredibly proud of each of you and of this organization. I encourage you to immerse yourself into each of the keynotes and breakout sessions. Take in as much knowledge as you can and think about how you can take this back to your teams and apply it to your current role. Take this opportunity to network and learn from one another. How will you Find a Way? This is the attitude we need to take to stay number one in our industry. You will learn more about this phrase and what it means as the week unfolds.
Learn, participate, engage with your colleagues, and have fun!
Sincerely,
Todd Wanek

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Josh Linkner
Josh Linkner, a New York Times bestselling author, is a rare blend of business, art, and science.
On the business front, he’s been the founder and CEO of five tech companies, which created over 10,000 jobs and sold for a combined value of over $200 million. He’s the co-founder and Managing Partner of Muditā (moo-DEE-tah) Venture Partners - an early-stage venture capital firm investing in groundbreaking technologies. Over the last 30 years, he’s helped over 100 startups launch and scale, creating over $1 billion in investor returns. He’s twice been named the EY Entrepreneur of The Year and is the recipient of the United States Presidential Champion of Change Award. While proud of his business success, his roots are in the world of jazz music. He’s been playing guitar in smoky jazz clubs for 40 years, studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and has performed over 1000 concerts around the world.
His experiences in both business and music led him to become one of the world’s foremost experts on innovation. Josh is the co-founder and Chairman of Platypus Labs, a global research, training, and consulting firm. Today, he’s on a mission to help leaders Find A Way™ through creative problem solving, inventive thinking, and ingenuity.
As we enter a new era of business, 50% of leaders in the United States have lost confidence in their ability to make decisions in the face of uncertainty. The level of disruption, technology threats, and uncertainty can be paralyzing. We are in a leadership crisis and must embrace a new model to meet the day’s challenges.
The business you’re running today isn’t the business you’ll be running next year. In this moment of volatility and uncertainty, we are being called to lead in a radically different way...more decisive, creative, and adaptable. So how can we use this defining moment to ensure relevancy, sustainability, and success in the future?
The Find a Way framework prioritizes agility over brute force, creativity over hustle, and improvisation over perfect planning. Leaders who embrace the model are inspired and better equipped. They feel confident to move forward into the darkness and have a newfound capacity to win consistently, no matter the circumstances.
