FOR A PATCH FOR MY SKIRT I DECIDED TO DO APPLIQUE A SPECIALS LOGO OF THE TWO TONE MAN AND THEIR BAND NAME
I CUT OUT ALL THE INTRICATE SHAPES AND USED BONDAWEB TO IRON THEM ON TO A PLAIN PIECE OF WHITE FABRIC I FOUND THIS TECHNIQUE VERY DIFFICULT, HOWEVER IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT AS I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT AND THINK THAT IT IS QUITE ACCURATE OTHER THAN I CHANGED THE LETTERING AND ADDED THE ‘THE’ TO SIDE OF THE SPECIALS WITH THE EMBROIDERY MACHINE

I did experience a problem on my final garment with the fact thatIcouldhavebeenalittlebitmorecarefulwiththesplatters andnotletthesplattersgosobig. forhealthandsafetyIthinkyoushouldwearbothanapronand gloves especially when handling bleach. from doing this I have definitely learnt how to experiment and learn using different techniques and I also think that it was a lot of fun. and enjoyabletocreate hereatthebottomincludesimagesoftheprocessandalsothe result and can be seen in full on my digital portfolio on Instagram-alongwithotherimagesofthisproject https://www.instagram.com/miarose fashion/?hl=cs B L E A C H M A N I P U L A T I O N
For this sample- also used for my final skirt design- was inspired by a classic skinhead style of jeans and skirts ( as pictured on the left) a simple, however effective, bleached denim look. I believe that this style is absolutely perfect for the target audience for many reasons- one being that it is perfect forthesubcultureandwantingtorecreatethatkindofstyleand another reason being is that it is known that the typical original skinheadisfromworkingclassmeaningthathandmisperfect for my target audience as they are affordable and also a sustainable company. this brings me on to my next point, this technique is not the most sustainable due to the use of bleach howevertheProcyondyesusedaresustainable.Ialsothinkthat itissuitableforhandmasitisasimplestyleandisanicestyle withalittleextraeffect.
To make this skirt, first of all i got a tailored skirt pattern and i drew aroundthepattern. Next i split the front and the back into two and added flare on both sides of the cf and flare on one sideofthesidepanel. then i sewn all of my sides together and also added a zip onto the back and a interfacing on thewaistband. last step was to baby over locked the hem of theskirt.
luckily i didn't run into many problems as the size and everything went very well. the only problem was one, which was that i sewn the zip the wrong way round and i had to unpick it and resew it but this was easily resolved and wasn'ttoobigaproblem.
