"Where a person is always complaining and feeling to find fault, the Spirit of the Lord is not very abundant in his heart. If a person wants to enjoy the Spirit of the Lord, let him, when something of a very disagreeable nature comes along, think how worse the circumstances might be, or think of something worse that he has experienced in the past. Always cultivate a spirit of gratitude. It is actually the duty of every Latter-day Saint to cultivate a spirit of gratitude" (The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, p. 61-62).

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:18-19)

"This doctrine of salvation for the dead is one of the most glorious principles ever revealed to man. It is the way in which the gospel shall be offered to all men. It establishes the fact that God is no respecter of persons [see Acts 10:34]; that every soul is precious in His sight; and that all men will, in fact and in reality, be judged according to their works" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 223). Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven; and a voice of truth out of the earth; glad tidings for the dead; a voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great joy. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that bring glad tidings of good things, and that say unto Zion: Behold, thy God reigneth! As the dews of Carmel, so shall the knowledge of God descend upon them! (D & C 128:19)

Dr. Roy E Howard The format of the messages we send our children has changed through the years. E. L. Howard Jr. typed on paper for many years, then on a computer. Nathan, Roy, and others continued sending sermoncitos in the original format by computer for several years and sent by email to subscribers. Now messages are shared on Facebook where all the world can share and more can contribute, including Martha Encalada, Emy Gabriela and Emy de Vera: News from Nathan, Roy's Ruminations, Photo Inspirations, Recipes, YouTube/drrhoward.http://latterdaysentinel.com

And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more. (D & C 78:19)

This week we held a Garage Sale. That means we work very hard to earn very little while accomplishing a great thing: divesting ourselves of things that weigh us down and clutter our living space. We hope that those who receive the things are blessed as they acquire that which they need for very little investment. If we were once grateful to have those things, now we are grateful for the space we have to reconsider that which remains. Now we can see a little bit better and move easier. Our next job is to see what else we can sell, give, or throw away so that our possessions facilitate, not burden our current life. Each item must have a reason, or it must go with the change of season of our time on earth.
