HAPPY ANGELS
YOUTH BRASS BAND I am Edrine Wasswa working as psychological instructor for children exposed to ethnic conflict in Uganda. During my ongoing study I have interacted with traumatized children. These children are coming from poverty with no hope for a better future. I am the founder of Happy Angels Brass Band, a charity organization registered as a a not for profit in Uganda that works to assist victims of socio-political and ethnic conflicts. The charity works to promote the welfare of disadvantaged people, more especially the children. I am raising money to support the charity to help the needy children from two schools in the slums of Braise, Uganda. 1. A nursery school (LANERA) with a single classroom. Children in lower, middle and upper classes are taught by only two teachers and share the same single classroom. Many of these children are orphans and are looked after by their frail grandparents who cannot afford to raise any funds.

2. A secondary school (Heritage College) with several students who dropped out of school due to lack of tuition fees. Many of these students come from broken families or single parent families, while others are orphans. They spend time loitering at home as they do not have any one to pay their tuition fees. The money you donate will be used as follows: 1. In the nursery school: to build an extension of two class rooms so that the children will be separated according to their ages instead of all of them sharing one single class room. 2. In the secondary school: to pay tuition fees for these bright students who cannot afford school fees. This will help many of these youth to get back to school and avoid anti social behaviors that put them at risk of getting HIV and Aids and also drug and alcohol abuse. The money is needed immediately so that it can help save these children from an appalling situation. The personal stories of these children are very touching, many of them having gone through a lot in their lives. Helping them to get back to school will enable them break the circle of intergenerational poverty. One of the stories that I can share with you is from a Form Three student, who told me that he would like to continue with his education and get his high school diploma so as to enable him to get Bwaise, Kampala, Uganda

employment so that he can support his other siblings. With your support this Form Three student can get back to school and achieve his educational goals. I strongly believe that giving these children a chance to get education will not only help them to succeed in but will also help them become leaders in their various communities. Your donations will go towards paying the school fees for these needy kids and will also be used to maintain our brass band equipment. As we integrate them in the band we will discover talents in those who will become great musicians in the future. The Happy Angels nominated Dr Roy Howard to be their president. He has been of great help in training our staff members and shaping our leadership and management. Thank you. Edrine Wasswa, Director
