DURBAN 2 AGM: A NIGHT OF BROTHERHOOD, TRADITION, AND BOLD BEGINNINGS
Nothing stands in the way of Durban 2 - not even a locked clubhouse! Before the AGM could officially begin, members had to grind their way inside, literally cutting through obstacles to ensure the night went ahead as planned. If that isn’t a perfect metaphor for their determination and resilience, what is?
Reflecting on the past year, outgoing chairman Gus Palmer highlighted Durban 2’s incredible contributions to the community. Under his leadership, the Table donated an astounding R313,000 to various charitable causes, reinforcing theircommitmenttoserviceandimpact.
Perhaps the most ambitious of Durban 2’s effortswastheircollaborationwithCelebrateLife, which saw the successful establishment of a fully operational bakery in Hammersdale This project not only provides economic benefits to the local community but also equips beneficiaries with valuable training in running a bakery, ensuring long-term sustainability. By focusing on empowerment over charity, this initiative embodies the very essence of Round Table, creating lasting change rather than temporary relief.
