Our local singer and getting to know a bit more about him!
Name: Jouwert 'Joe' van der Walt

Occupation: Car Sales Executive
Age: 29
Role within table: Gonubie 182 Clubhouse Convenor & Border Area Vice-Chairman
How has being apart of Table helped or benefited you:
Being part of Table has afforded me the opportunity to be part of a Family that you can also count on to be there for you in the good and bad times. It has also provided me with the opportunity to grow as an individual. From being nervous, speaking in front of many people, I am now able to run a meeting confidently.
What is your fondest memory in Table:
Being in Round Table now for over 5 years, there are many fond memories and difficult to single out one. But what does come to mind immediately, is our Angel Outreach Annual Christmas Party held at Gonubie's Ski Boat Club each year. We make breakfast for 100 children, thereafter playing various games with them for entertainment and then having Father Christmas give them their gifts. The smile on their faces, lights up my world and brings tears to my eyes knowing we as individuals are able to bring light to their life!
Is Round Table family oriented:
Round Table is very much Family oriented. At Gonubie we always say 'Family, Work, then Table'. I know my fellow Tablers are always one phone call away. Whether it be to talk, get together or simply just to check in. We are a close bunch of men, and we hang out a lot together because we see each other as 'Brothers'.
What are your goals within Table:
Currently, I am Border Area Vice Chairman, and I aim to be Area Chairman next year with the support of my Tablers. My goal is run a successful year this year and next year, that I can look back afterwards and say 'I have made an impactful change' and know I have made a success of it!
What and when is your next project or event:
My next project is our annual Winter Knights collection. On 30 June, we will be at The Lookout (Old Selbornian Club) to do a collection, and I will doing Live Music there to entertain the public. R20 gets you entrance or if you bring some clothes or blankets, you will get free entry. Please feel free to join us, it starts at 6pm!
