Round Table Pretoria 136 - Weskoppies Dance

This year’s first Weskoppies dance was a big success with most of the 200 patients dancing, partying and overall just enjoying the evening. Every few minutes there is a small dance competition where the winner/winners receive a big chocolate as a prize. All of them go do their utmost best on the dance floor for a shot at the grand prize.

Although it may not seem like a big thing, these types of events play a big role in these people’s lives. Events like these serve as a bridge and a way back into everyday life and is an essential connection to our society. The dance also serves as a small window of escape from their everyday stressors and past events. It also helps the O.T.’s (occupational therapists). Days after the event the patients experience a calmer state of mind aiding communication between patient and O.T.
