I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. As we embark on this new Rotary year, I am honored and excited to serve as your President. Rotary has always held a special place in my heart, and I am committed to working tirelessly to further our mission of Service Above Self.
Our theme for this month is "Membership and New Club Development," and it reflects our dedication to strengthening our Rotary family and expanding our impact in the community. I firmly believe that our organization's strength lies in its members, and by working together, we can achieve remarkable things.
Membership Growth: One of our primary goals this year is to increase our membership. Each new member brings fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, and increased capacity for service. I encourage each of you to think about potential new members in your network. Invite them to our meetings and events, and share with them the incredible work we do as Rotarians. Let us make it a collective effort to bring new, passionate individuals into our Rotary family.
Engagement and Retention: While attracting new members is essential, it is equally important to engage and retain our existing members. Let us strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where every Rotarian feels valued and motivated to contribute their unique talents. Regular communication, mentorship programs, and involvement in meaningful projects can go a long way in ensuring our members remain committed and enthusiastic.
New Club Development: In addition to strengthening our existing clubs, we will also focus on new club development. Expanding our Rotary footprint allows us to reach even more communities and make a more significant impact. If you have ideas or contacts that could lead to the formation of a new club, please share them with our Club Development Committee. Let's explore opportunities to extend Rotary's reach.
Community Impact: Our commitment to service remains at the core of Rotary. This year, let's continue to identify and address the pressing needs of our community. Whether it's supporting education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, or any other cause, our collective efforts can create positive, lasting change.
RotaryFamily:Rotaryismorethanjustaclub;it'safamily.Letuscontinue tosupportanduplifteachother, notonlyinourRotaryendeavorsbutalso in our personal lives. Reach out to fellow Rotarians, be there for one another, and let the bonds of friendship that Rotary fosters strengthen.
In closing, I am incredibly optimistic about what we can achieve together this year. Let's work together, dream big, and remember that our actions, no matter how small, have the power to transform lives. Together, we can make our Rotary vision a reality.
Thank you for your dedication to Rotary, and I look forward to an inspiring year of service, fellowship, and growth.
At the 2023 Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, I asked all Rotary members to become champions in our effort to illuminate mental health needs near and far. This includes helping one another feel more supported, advocating for mental health services, and building bridges with experts in the field to expand access to treatment.
It’s an important task and a big ask. But it’s also something that should feel familiar to every Rotary member — because everything we do is in the spirit of caring, giving, friendship, and compassion, and has been from the beginning of our organization.
We’ve grown into an amazing global network of 1.4 million interconnected community leaders — leaders who share a deep commitment to doing good in the world. But what makes Rotary powerful isn’t just what we do for the communities we serve. We also support and empower each other, by creating a safe space for our members to bring their whole, authentic selves. We show each other comfort and care.
These connections are deeply meaningful. The U.S. surgeon general recently declared loneliness a public health epidemic. Dr. Vivek Murthy said, “We must prioritize building social connection the same way we have prioritized other critical public health issues such as tobacco, obesity, and substance use disorders.” I am proud of what Rotary has done across generations to build those kinds of social connections — and this magazine focused on loneliness and what Rotary can do about it in its January 2023 issue.
Our worldwide community and our foundational value prioritizing Service Above Self makes Rotary a powerful global advocate for mental health. A recently published study by Ohio State University found performing acts of kindness was the only one of three mental health interventions tested that helped people feel more connected to others. Study co-author David Cregg said, “Performing acts of kindness seems to be one of the best ways to promote thoseconnections.”
This research suggests what we’ve known all along — that doing good helps transform not just the communities we serve, but it alsotransformsus.Asweputagreaterfocusonmentalhealth, let’snot think of this effort as something new to Rotary, but rather as something we can do better and as a result have a greater impact on ourselves and the people we serve.
We are not starting this effort from scratch. The Rotary Action Group on Mental Health Initiatives has been focused on these kinds of issues for several years — and we will be looking to members of that group for leadership as we continue to build awareness. Mental health care fits comfortably within several of our areas of focus. As of May, there are 41 global grant-supported projects with a mental health focus. Many of them have tremendous promise, and we will be highlighting them in the months ahead..
So let’s work together to erase the stigma associated with emotional well-being, raise awareness of mental health needs, and improve access to preventive and interventional mental health services.
Together, we will Create Hope in the World.
Oh carol I am but a fool
Darling I love though you treat me cruel
You hurt me and you make me cry
But if you leave me
I will surely die
Darling there will never be another 'cause I love you so Don't ever leave me
Say you'll never go
I will always want
You for my sweet heart
No matter what you do
Oh carol I'm still in love with you
Oh carol I am but a fool
Darling I love though you treat me cruel
You hurt me and you make me cry
But if you leave me I will surely die
Darling there will never be another 'cause I love you so don't ever leave me
Say you'll never go I will always want
You for my sweet heart no matter what you do
Oh carol I'm still in love with you

Meeting Day Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the Month | 6:00 PM (1st Friday - CVC Civic Center, CVC Plaza, MH Del Pilar St., Caloocan City)
With the consent of then District Governor Eduardo "Edi" N. Chua Co Kiong, the organization of another club in Kalookan was set into motion upon the appointment of then RC Sampaguita Grace Park President, PDG Marcelina "Lina" Aurelio by Governor Chua as his special representative (DGSR).
The organization of Rotary Club of Kalookan North, composed of young professionals and businessmen in Caloocan City was the brainchild of DGSR Lina. The first organizational meeting was held on 14 April 1991 presided by DGSR Lina Aurelio, with the presence of Governor Edi Chua Co Kiong and then District Secretary PDG Teddy Zamora and eight prospective members. The governor hosted the meeting.
Sailing was initially rough though, after tedious adjustment by the prospective members and series of Rotary Information given by DGSR Lina, DS Teddy, Extension Chairman Pres. San Juan and other notable Rotarians like PDG Nani Certeza and PDS Rudy Alonzo, the club become a reality. The provisional club was subsequently chartered by the Rotary International on April 29, 1991.
It was on April 14, 1991, during a regular meeting of the club that an election was held and the group finally came up with their Constitution and By-laws. Elected as Charter President was Carlos V. Cabochan of CVC Supermarket. The induction ceremonies of the Charter Officers and Members was held at the Valle Verde Country Club on August 03, 1991 marked the birth of Rotary Club of Kalookan North.

The world today is not the same as it was when Rotary was founded in 1905. Demographics have shifted, the pace of change has accelerated, and technology has created new opportunities for connection and service. What hasn't changed is a need for the values that define Rotary:
1. Act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life.
2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect.
3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to mentor young people, help those with social needs ,and improve people's quality of life in my community and in the world.
4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians.
5. Not seek special business or professional a dvantages from other Rotarians.
