Winfred Stephanie Natukunda Public Relations Director

Welcome back to this second edition of the Sabula newsletter; a monthly bulletin for the Rotaract club of Bwebajja proudly supposed by Rotary Club of Bwebajja. New reports indicate that membership growth and retention are holding steady despite global economic uncertainty and as the Bwebajja Corporates Club, we view membership growth as " The Power of Innovation and Optimism about the Future. The fact is we are living in uncertain times, with constant change and volatility underpinning everything from our political climate to economic conditions and yes even membership trends. While membership remains strong for many associations, there's a data point worth noting that it also makes

some association executives feel slightly anxious. Now is the time to inject new ideas into membership strategy. This changemaker year in Rotaract Bwebajja we are happy to celebrate this month with a great Innovation program and consistent year over year membership growth. The overreaching message is that all Rotaract and Rotary clubs need to be constantly "innovating and creating new member value by trying new things and groups that do often see better results." Rotary and Rotaract Clubs should priories member value and engagement as a mechanism for growth and relevance. Tangible member value is perceived to improve association outcomes and in turn optimism for the future. Here is what to look out for this month in your

The article has great messages from the most important dignitaries of the Rotary family at large and of course, from our very own Change Make President of our Mighty Corporate club and club members and not forgetting the recent successful covid 19 project titled "Alive and Kicking Covid 19 free community “and the eye-catching pictures of the project. Last but not least as a way of celebrating this month, the Mighty Rotaract Club of Bwebajja has put up all details about our club members, their specialties, and as well their side hustles as a way of strengthening their social and economic capital and as well a way to widen their market. Kindly take time to study and check out all of them and support them. Enjoy the rest of the magazine

SABULA MESSAGES 04

| Sabula Newsletter

Greetings, my dear Changemakers,

As you grow more, you will be able to do more.

As we focus on membership in Rotary this month, I ask you to help make history this year. For more than 20 years, our membership has stood at 1.2 million. Rotary is a vibrant organization with a 116-year history, members in more than 220 countries and geographic areas, and a rich legacy of work in polio eradication and other humanitarian programs. Rotary has changed so much in our own lives and the lives of others. As we Serve to Change Lives, don’t you think Rotary could have an even greater impact on the world if more people were practicing Service Above Self? My vision is to increase Rotary membership to 1.3 million by July 2022, and the call to action is simple: Each One, Bring One. This year, I want every Rotarian and Rotaractor to introduce a new person into their club. We are a membership organization, and members are our greatest asset. You are the ones who contribute so generously to The Rotary Foundation. You are the ones who dream big to bring good into the world through meaningful projects. And of course, you are the ones who have put the world on the brink of eradicating polio. As we make membership a priority this year, let us focus on diversity by reaching out to younger people and especially to women. Every club should celebrate its new members, and every Rotarian who sponsors a member will be personally recognized by me. And those who are successful in bringing in 25 or more members will be part of our new Membership Society. Even as we share the gift of Rotary with others, let us be sure to engage these new members, because an engaged Rotarian is an asset forever. And remember that engaging our current members and keeping them in our clubs is just as important as bringing in newcomers. Let us also be ready to form new clubs, especially flexible ones. I am very bullish on clubs that hold virtual or hybrid meetings, and satellite clubs and cause-based clubs can also be very effective ways of growing Rotary. As you grow more, you will be able to do more. Let us

Shekhar Mehta - RI President keep empowering girls through our work in each of the areas of focus. Scholarships for girls, toilets in schools, health and hygiene education — there is so much we can do. Projects focused on the environment are also attracting interest the world over. Do participate in these projects locally and internationally to make this world a better place for us and for all species. Each of you is a Rotary brand ambassador, and all of the wonderful work done by Rotarians around the world needs to be shared outside the Rotary community. Use social media to tell your friends, colleagues, and relatives the stories of Service Above Self. Finally, I’m challenging every club, during the coming year, to plan at least one Rotary Day of Service that will bring together volunteers from inside and outside Rotary and will celebrate and showcase the work of your club in your community. Visit rotary.org to find out more about all of these initiatives, along with other ways to Serve to Change Lives. Sabula Newsletter

To break through the glass ceiling Each One, Bring One, Grow More, Do More, Serve to Change Lives Young Kimaro - District Governor Rotary International President Shekar Mehta has thrown us a challenge, to have Rotary finally break through the glass ceiling of 1.2 million in members which has plagued Rotary for years. The problem is that many come in, but just as many leave. How can we slowdown that revolving door? GOT TO START RIGHT. Rotary is not for anyone and everyone. Screen carefully and recruit only those who are good fits for Rotary. Values Matter. Do they share the Rotary values Integrity, commitment, passion for service, empathy and team spirit? Do they walk the talk, i.e., keep their promise? Money Matters. Inform the newcomers upfront the financial obligations of every Rotarian – the RI dues and district, country and club fees and paying for own expenses during Rotary activities. If not, then the RI invoice will come as a rude shock. Some may quit, others struggle for a while then also quit. It is important to openly discuss their ability and willingness to meet these financial obligations before induction.

Make Clubs Vibrant, Make Rotary Grow 06

| Sabula Newsletter

Some join Rotary to gain personally from externally funded projects. When they discover there is no such opportunity since strict accountability rules in Rotary, they quit. With early screening such individuals should not even get near the Rotary door. CLUB EXPERIENCE MATTERS. For prospective Rotarians initial club experience matters. In this, all club members play a role. First Impression Matters. The sponsor Rotarian should accompany the invitees to the first and subsequent visits to the club to introduce them to fellow Rotarians. Plan to arrive early to give time for friendly exchange of welcome and chitchats which put the invitees at ease. Meeting Experience Matters. Invitees, being well-placed professionals and entrepreneurs, expect Rotary meetings to be well structured and prepared, and for Rotarians to actively engage in discussions, interact with each other with respect and with a touch of humour. That makes the club appealing. Feeling Connected Matters. After two or three visits, invite the newcomer to give a talk about oneself. That will make everyone more relaxed with each other and connecting easier. Understanding Rotary Matters. Assign a senior Rotarian to share, over two or three one-on-one sessions, basic knowledge about Rotary, how it was formed and what it does. That too increases the newcomer’s comfort level, making it easier for him/her to connect. Engagement Matters. Invite the newcomers to join in community service and sit in committee meetings. That will increase their feeling of being part of the club. Those are the very actions which make clubs vibrant.

Dear Friends, We have successfully come to the concussion of the first month of this rotary year of service and I want to thank you very much for the great work that we have done thus far. First, let me tell you how awed I am to be your president; Do you know who you are? You came to this club from all around this county. You came from big and small families. Many of you came from communities that know nothing about Rotary but yet your love and spirt of service is beyond what I could ever put in words. You are bright and talented and every single day you amaze me with your commitment towards making this world a better place. So, if you are reading this today, I say to you thank you! If tears are prayers and I believe they are, I want you to know that many tears of joy have been shed because of your generosity and support in the last month of my presidency. I pray that heaven smiles upon you for the sacrifices that every one of you has made because I would be a liar to think that we have come this far because of my talents or resources, the answer is a solid, NO! Every night when I retire to my bed, I am so tired and exhausted but deep down I feel a sense of strength that comes from knowing that I am surrounded by people who are willing to help not only change lives but sacrifice a part of themselves to make this world a better place and help strangers feel comfortable and confident.

Membership engagement also entails adding value to our members, both at the personal and professional levels.

JB Ssengooba Change Maker President Now, more than ever is the time to reflect on our purpose and continued relevance in a dynamic world. August is designated as the Membership and Club Development Month to enable us critically assess internal and external membership issues relating to growth and continuity. Because membership is the lifeblood of Rotaract, no club can afford to remain stagnant. We must grow in numbers to survive and expand our humanitarian service. That requires us to be flexible and innovative in our approach; as well as open to new partnerships that will enable us to carry out impactful projects. It is on this note that I am happy to announce that effective immediately, the Rotaract Club of Bwebajja is open to both physical and virtual membership. Time and again we have met friends and family members that have loved our ideal of

service but have been limited to join us due to several reasons. These range from busy schedules at work, family commitments, and the fact that others are living in communities with no rotary or Rotaract Clubs. Many also find it hard to join in the physical meetings. However, these people carry with them a lot of experience in proposal writing, report writing and so many other values that are important in our clubs. We, therefore, believe that meeting physically should not be a limit for them to serve. Our greatest hope is that this shall help us bring many Helping Hands to participate in our service project and in the growth and development of the club. Membership engagement also entails adding value to our members, both at the personal and professional levels. In this vein, I also want to announce that this month we shall showcase the abilities of our members on all our social media platforms. We will call this program "Promote Me, Support My hustle". Aside from our social media post, we will have members speak to us about their businesses in our fellowships and club meetings. At the end of this month, we will then hold an online business forum for everyone to display their talents and abilities in the business world. Lastly, I am excited that this month, we are launching the Corporate Investment Club. This club is aimed at enhancing our members’ path to becoming self-reliant. Investment clubs have been around for several decades and are simply groups of people who get together and pool their money to invest. While the primary motivation is to make as much money as possible, they are a great way for investors to share ideas and learn about the market from others. Investment clubs are an excellent way to ease into investing without getting burned or ripped off by unscrupulous brokers. This program is another avenue we shall use to give our members and non-Rotaractors a positive and impactful experience in making money for themselves and their families. I encourage all members of our club and beyond to join. Together, let us open more opportunities to serve humanity as we better ourselves and become more self-reliant. From the deepest part of my heart, I love you and look forward to a successful month.

You give Rotary Life! It gives me immense honour to be part of this vibrant newsletter that showcases the amazing things your club is doing in community service. Since your charter, we have been proud to associate with your vibrancy, enthusiasm and availability to give hands on in our activities. As your mother club, your success over the past year as the most outstanding club, has left us beaming with much pride and confidence as very influ-ential parents whose mentorship and guidance yields a lot of fruits. We are sure that in this Rotary year you will continue to shine and live up to the true meaning of the Rotary ideals of community service. Allow me congratulate change maker president Joseph Batter Ssengooba upon your ascension to the club presidency role. I have firm belief in your charisma and unwavering vibrancy that you will lead the club to even greater heights. Having gone through your work plan and worked on several projects with your club, I envision a club that is on the path of greater success in this Rotary year. The zeal with which you and your team throw at all the activities you execute is a force to reckon with. Sometimes I pass you for Rotarians because of your professionalism and work ethic that is so inclusive and creates endearment among other clubs. I urge you to keep holding your club in high standards in the face of such unprecedented times.

PHF Michael Ayebazibwe Rotary Club of Bwebajja (Mother Club) such projects that speak directly to the devastating effects of Covid 19 are a sign of a good initiative. I am so thrilled that you partnered with us and we assure you that more and more of youth hands-on skills will be needed in this Rotary year. Serve to change lives will be that easy with you in our midst. We live in a ripple effect world.

This year’s theme speaks directly to our hearts and calls us to make interventions in our communities as we harness our skills. “Serve to change lives” asks us to focus our efforts on empowering girls and ensuring their access to education. We are called upon by the Rotary International President to dream big. Guided by our shared vision for Rotary, we shall plan and set goals, inspire and motivate Rotaractors to reach goals and expand our organization by increasing membership and the impact of Rotary through serving the world.

Your spirit of community service is different from that of older generations. You are result-oriented, you move quickly. Your projects have purpose. You can attest to the fact that joining Rotaract is one of the smartest things a youth can do because by being a Rotaractor, doors to professional connections are opened as you rub shoulders with influential people in your community. Some of you have found great volunteer opportunities that continue to change your lives. Rotaract provides an incredible vehicle for you to learn and grow from the wisdom of experienced Rotarians.

I am glad that we are partnering together on bigger and impactful projects even in these hard times of the pandemic. Your energies on the recently concluded virtual campaign project dubbed ALIVE AND KICKING Covid free community was indicative of a goal-oriented club that is out there to make great interventions in the community. Covid has not left the world the same and

amidst these poisonous times. Reach out to all members and get them on board, utilize social media and spread the great work you are doing. There is great strength in numbers. The more hands, the more impact. The world needs more Rotaractors who will change communities by providing leadership through service. But while you do service, do not forget to have all the responsible fun because what’s Rotaract without fun? As we usher in the new month of membership and new club development, it is incumbent to engage our current mem-

bership, attend trainings and gain skills, mentor new members and provide value to all the membership so they can keep engaged and grow the club together. I want to end by thanking you for this initiative of creating a monthly bulletin where members can harness their skills and showcase their skill while promoting the clubs’ values and developments. It is good public relations and as mother club, we are amazed and can only journey with you in this great endeavour.

The Bwebajja I Know

Rtr. Phillis Nabukeera My club is always at Heart and as I write I believe that the Rotaract club of Bwebajja I know will preserve all valuable knowledge for future reference. I was once invited in July, 2018 for an event whose name I did not know at that time but could just describe it as full of respectable and professional people. PAG Moses Quinnion Galabuzi invited me to the occasion, it was his installation as Inspirational President. While at Cabana Restaurant that evening, I interacted with several of the noble class, I loved the experience. It is at this very occasion that the then Inspirational president of the Rotary club of Bwebajja introduced me to Rotaractor Anthony Kafumbe Junior who is now the Club Charter President and asked us to form a baby Rotaract club (Rotaract Club of Bwebajja). So yeah, the rest of the event is history, Anthony and I communicated so often and it did not take us a week before we started identifying youths to join us. We of course started with the initial stages of interacting more before we could actually become serious for charter. There is an interesting system we started with, one of letting members know each other at a personal level, interacting with various characters and understanding vocations. We went down to the point of understanding members’ emotions for us to ably relate and grow together to form a club that is family. Can you imagine that before charter we met daily? I couldn’t wait to leave my work place every day knowing I have an exciting group of new friends to meet just for me to listen to their day’s experience and them listening to mine. These catch-up meetings strengthened our bond and we realized it was high time to make ourselves more useful and valuable to our communities. We attended Rotary club of Bwebajja meetings and fellowships to understand the Rotary culture. The members of this club were so welcoming and gave us an opportunity to learn and grow in Rotary. As Bwebajja Rotaract club at formation stage at the time, we had to prove our worth by participating in Rotary activities so we could be recognized as an

We Are One Big Family Rtr. Lawrence Matovu Family is one thing that God blessed us with and this should be graced. In Rotary and Rotaract, we are one big family and this means a lot to us the members and the world at large. What is entailed in the oneness that makes the family big is quite a lot but one important thing we need to front is Love. Having love and respect among the family keeps us together. What makes me believe that we are one big family are the good times we spend together as a family, such as hospitalities, get together and bonding moments. rations makes it even bigger and better because we get exposed to quite a number of different things and learn more about these collaborations. In my club ‘Rotaract Club of Bwebajja’ we went an extra mile of togetherness where by a picture of the day of one of our members is displayed on the group chat and fellow members throw comments of positivity and this has kept us moving as a family.

We have an annual friend of the year party which is kind of a gift exchange session and this has indeed kept us as a family. Family is quite an interesting thing one should cherish however; communication and checking on friends is also key. In conclusion, my family is my life and everything else comes second as far as what is important to me. Rotary is family.

Membership at Rotaract Club of Bwebajja Rtr. Hope Tushemerirwa Bwebajja is one of the amazing clubs that everyone would want to join. I have been privileged to serve as a membership director and I don't take it for granted. Many youths want things that involve development and fun as well, with Bwebajja we are way far ahead on that. We have created plans to attract and engage members in club activities. We are always looking out for people who fall into our club cultures, these are: • • • • • • • • • •

We are a corperate club We are team players We are service oriented We are a multitasking club We believe in the line of authority We are creative and innovative We love family and fun We produce strong leaders We are a committed club We believe in the power of numbers

These are our cultures at Bwebajja that make us one despite age, size, professions and others. We have things that keep us together as a family. Every day we choose one person and post him or her in the group as "THE PICTURE OF THE DAY "this helps us to appreciate members through talking good about them and the special uniqueness they carry, it also helps us feel appreciate for

example on my day, my president’s writing meant a lot to me. HOT SEAT is where every member on the hot seat is asked questions that are personal and you are entitled to answer all question, we do not take these things personal. It helps us discover our weaknesses. FRIEND OF THE YEAR this helps us know each other beyond club level and enabled us to know the likes and dislikes of the person u a with. BUDDY GROUPS these ones have helped us so much in knowing the members of our mother club and it has increased the bonding among us. MENTORSHIP We have a WhatsApp group called NEW BLOOD where all new members that are interested in joining the cooperates are added. Every week we always have a Guest speaker that has been in Rotaract for some good years and has the right knowledge about Rotary and Rotaract to speak to the new members So that they join what they understand. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR MEMBERS • • • •

Why is that person joining the club? What are their expectations and needs? Study their emotions Do they know wat volunteering mean?

If not teach them what it is and the benefits in it. Inspire them. Encourage them. Engage them. Make them feel at peace. HOW I LOVE BWEBAJJA Sabula Newsletter

My Experience at Bwebajja Rtr. Edirne Male In July 2020 I saw a flyer on one of my OB’s Facebook page “Joseph Ssengooba”, He invited me to join him in Fellowship Meeting on the 28th July 2020 at ST. THERESA RESTAURANT KISUBI which emerged to be my first visit as a guest to RAC BWEBAJJA and I was introduced to the MIGHTY CORPORATES. The 25th August 2020 became a historical day in life time journey, I officially became a member of the Rotaract club of BWEBAJJA and the Rotary family at large through the Induction ceremony. It was a great honour indeed to be inducted by Past District Governor PDG Kenneth Mugisha from the Rotary club of Muyenga. In my early moments of becoming a junior Rotaractor of Bwebajja, I was a little nervous and a little unsure of the challenge I had just taken on. I wasn’t even quite sure of what Rotaract was! When friends would ask where I was going and what I was doing at Rotaract I would simply respond with, “Going to a meeting with business people…I think?” After attending Rotaract for several months, I now know that it is so much more than “lunch and meeting with business people.” My experience as a Junior Rotaractor is nothing short of awesome. I enjoy meeting different professional individuals, and hardworking community members from the area and hearing their stories. I have learned a lot from these wise people. In addition, I have got to feel like an adult and I have been treated like one as well. My communication and social skills are improving, and I enjoy seeing other youth from different areas joining as well. I feel extremely welcomed at The Rotaract of Bwebajja by the friendly atmosphere and talkative

people. I also enjoy the knowledge and caring that is represented through Rotaract. In Rotaract and Rotary Bwebajja meetings with guest speakers, I have never left any fellowship without feeling impacted and learning something new. The speakers never fail to keep things interesting, informative, and captivating. I never thought I could sit still and listen to a talk unless a teacher was forcing me to, but I have been proven wrong! Overall, being a Rotaractor of Bwebajja is an experience that has left me feeling welcomed into a view of adult life and informed about both my local and global community. It is an incredible experience of social interaction and immersion (not to mention great food)! Last but not least, when I officially became a Rotaractor of Bwebajja, I set my self a task to work committedly and to offer my service to the Club and the community, later I was appointed as an Assistant Club Administrator during the Opportunity Year 2020/2021. Due to the Good service and commitment, I have expressed to my Club, I am now the Director in charge of finance “CHANGE MAKER TREASURER” To the Rotaract club of BWEBAJJA for the Year 2021/2022 Finally, allow me take this opportunity to thank The Change Maker President Joseph Ssengooba, IPP Yoweri Ninsiima and CP Anthony Kafumbe Jr. together with the club administration and all the mighty Bwebajja Corporates for the good work towards the club and I am willing to work with you all for the rest of the Time. I thank you and I wish you good luck.

The Mantra of Each One, Bring One. PAG Moses Q. Galabuzi Regional Membership Coordinator Entebbe Corridor D9214

Without members there are no clubs. We all benefit from a thriving membership and all of us share a responsibility to help grow Rotaract and bring in new members. From treating members with respect, greeting members with warmth and interest, practicing the four way test in all our aspects of life to consistently spreading the news about Rotary’s good work and taking time to listen and evaluate diverse opinions and defend the right of members to express a view different from yours can build the reputation of your club for being healthy. In this Rotary year, the Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta has challenged Rotary Districts and Clubs to be catalysts to help increase membership to 1.3 million by 1 July 2022 through his Each One, Bring One initiative which asks every member to bring one person to join Rotary within the next 17 months. This he asserts will be possible when members become more involved in-service projects, saying that caring for and serving others are the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own. But to be able to do more through service, Rotary needs to increase membership.

We are all what we are because of mentorship The lifeline of every Rotary or Rotaract club is its members. Whereas growing clubs is one the greatest challenges of Rotary over the years, we can be able to leverage on this campaign of Each one, Bring One, include our members and get everyone excited about the possibilities of growing our club! Every Rotaract Club is unique, so it is incumbent upon members to come up with customized creative ideas to grow numbers. Clubs can identify an Each One, Bring One contact person for their club. This person may be your Club Membership Chair or someone else. They will receive regular communication from the District to submit the names of participating members. This person will be responsible for tracking members who participate by bringing guests to club meetings, service projects or social events. It will require approximately 1 hour each month and is a GREAT opportunity to prepare someone for future leadership in your club! If you don’t identify a contact person, the communications will default to the Club President. Introduce your members to Each One, Bring One. Sabula Newsletter

Complete the “Sharing the Rotary Experience” Activity with your members during a club meeting. The activity should take approximately 5-10 minutes and can occur in-person, virtually or hybrid. Utilize an internal communication tool to remind your members to invite guests. Rotaract clubs can also use other ways to grow and attract potential members. The following are some of the creative ways we can utilize to grow as clubs and expand our reach. We can begin by organizing a ‘bring a friend fellowship’ This can be done by tasking members to come along with a friend for any of our weekly meetings. Since we are now meeting online, we can invite members of our families to join our online meetings. This can be done once a month in a recurring fashion to keep our friends tagged in on Rotaract and its core values. In this digital era, clubs can use social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram among others to promote your club. You can even sponsor some of the posts you share so they can reach a wider audience. All club activities must be catalogued on these sites to showcase to the word what good we are doing in society. Social media is a good catchment for potential members. It is also important to respond to messages quickly and create a call option for guests who intend to reach out to the club. Of late there is much buzz about twitter spaces and if clubs can jump onto this new development. It would be good in attracting members online at all times. Diversity is the way to go in this modern world. Members can be given opportunities to give elevator speeches about their membership. This can include why they are members, their biggest benefit of membership and the purpose of the club. This can create checks and give feedback on the growth of

22

| Sabula Newsletter

the club in terms of the value members get associating themselves with Rotaract. Odd as it may see, asking members to list their membership in their professional biographies is another way that shows the growth of the club. It points to the confidence and feeling of belonging to the membership. Let members be proud to say that they are Rotaractors both in writing and speech to the world. This builds the prestige of the club. Appreciating and celebrating members on their important milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and many others will make them feel loved and motivated to keep serving the club. You cannot grow the membership by not constantly mentoring members. Holding trainings and mentorship classes is a huge factor in the growth of the club. These trainings offer members an array of leadership and professional skills that will not only make them appreciate Rotaract but also play a crucial role in arming members with required skills to thrive not only professionally but also in the business world. The training must be tethered towards meeting the expectations of the intended target groups. Hosting meaningful fellowships where very informative talks are spewed out can go a long way in growing the club and attracting potential members. Clubs should be able to add value to their members in the weekly meetings by creating safe spaces where they can learn, unlearn and relearn. The speakers hosted should directly appeal to the needs of individual members in their personal and professional lives. To sum up, growing the club is a responsibility of all the members in the club. Individual members contribute a lot to the growth of the club by using their skills and abilities to keep the club afloat. Your club should be your business.

Alive and Kicking Success Story Amidst the current times of surging cases and deaths due to Covid-19, several Rotary and Rotaract clubs in Uganda are engaged in COVID 19 response initiatives and campaigns. The Rotary and Rotaract clubs of Bwebajja executed a seven-day virtual campaign running from 1st to 7th July 2021 to create community awareness on the pandemic. The clubs produced a comprehensive pack of informative, communicative and educative sensitization materials including videos, banners, posters, pamphlets, and flyers. The purpose of this campaign was to leverage the use of social media since it connects many people around the world and messages can reach a wide number of people. Dubbed ALIVE AND KICKING COVID free community, the project saw Rotarians and Rotaractors optimally use social media to spread the message on COVID 19 prevention, vaccination and mental health among others. The campaign was taken to social media to further extend the impact of the project and add onto the existing voices on COVID 19 awareness. Facebook, twitter and YouTube are awash with hashtags,

24

fliers, brochures, messages on the aforementioned subject under the official hashtag #Covid_Free_Community. As part of the campaign, the two clubs also donated and distributed Rotary/Rotaract branded facemasks, Boda-Boda reflector jackets, hand washing soap, hand sanitizers, hand washing facilities to the market vendors and Boda-Boda riders in Kawuku and surrounding areas. They also conducted open space training on covid-19 and water-borne diseases. Each day from 1st to 7th July, a particular message on COVID 19 prevention with clearly thought-out ideas through videos and flyers was shared by the club members and community members across the different social media platforms. Some of the outstanding messages included; shining a light on the frontline workers risking their lives, spreading words of love to our loved ones among others. The beneficiaries (market vendors and Boda-Boda riders) thanked the Rotary fraternity for the donations and training and promised full compliance. Their leaders commended the generous humanitarian spirit that Rotary continues to espouse in making sustainable interventions during crises. The President of the Rotaract club of Bwebajja Rtr. JB Ssengooba in his address to the market vendors was very empathetic as he relayed out the importance of adhering to the SOPs set by the government and also asked the vendors to make full use of the donated handwashing materials. Rtn. Michael Ayebazibwe Rubanda the President of the Rotary club of Bwebajja assured community members that the Rotary fraternity was going to work closely with them to carry out more campaigns not only on the pandemic but also other pressing issues. The week- long project was concluded with a webinar session that attracted a multitude of professionals on the need to support the control of the spread of COVID -19 through online based awareness campaigns with a focus on social media. The main guest of this closing ceremony was the Rotary District 9214 Governor Young Kimaro who joined the celebration on zoom from her home in Tanzania.

Introducing Uniform Fridays An initiative to promote Rotary and Rotaract at our Place of Work and in our communities. you do in rotary; and this has helped us to enlighten people about Rotaract and rotary.

How does it Work:

Our ability to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges, both locally and globally, comes from the combined strength of our 1.2 million members. Imagine what we could accomplish with even more members and more community support. Your promotion of Rotary and Rotaract and the work your club is doing to improve your community is one way to grow our clubs and find volunteers and donors to support our service activities. Telling your story to promote your club, will attract new members, and get community support. Rotaract Club of Bwebajja’s public image committee has developed a new initiative. We have branded this imitative with the name “Uniform Fridays”.

What is Uniform Friday: Uniform Friday is a public relations initiative to help us promote Rotary and Rotaract at our places of work and in our communities. Uniform Fridays sees us explaining questions to the public like what is rotary, what is the benefit of joining rotary, what do

The club member posts their picture while executing their work duties in their club uniform on our club WhatsApp group and all our social media platforms with the hashtag #AskMeAboutRotary and tag Bwebajja Rotaract Club on Facebook, @of_Bwebajja on Twitter, @bwebajjarotaract on Instagram.
