Brazil is a big country. The food is different in different regions, but these are some typical dishes.

a Feijoada /fay-zhoh-AH-dah/

Meat is important in Brazilian cooking. This is a meat stew with beans. It’s delicious, but it takes 24 hours to cook. Most people eat it in restaurants.

b Moqueca /moh-KEH-kah/

This fish stew is popular in the north of the country. You cook fish with tomatoes, onions and coconut milk and you serve it with rice.

c Empadão /em-pah-DOWN/ Empadão is a famous Brazilian pie. It is a typical meal for lunch and dinner at the weekend. There are different types of pie, but the most common is with meat or fish.

d Pão de queijo /pown jeh KAY-zhoo/ This is a type of bread. You make balls with bread and cheese and you eat them for breakfast or as a snack during the day.
