In a vibrant show of solidarity and inclusion, Rohnert Park raised the Pride flag high at City Center Plaza on May 30. The event brought community members together to celebrate love, visibility, and the City’s commitment to creating a place where everyone belongs.
On May 30, Rohnert Park came together for a heartfelt Pride flag raising at City Center Plaza, co-hosted with the Sonoma County Library The event reflected the values that define the Friendly City: inclusion, dignity, and community.
Mayor Gerard Giudice shared, “Raising the Pride flag is more than a tradition it’s a reflection of who we are as a city.”
The morning featured local advocate Athena Rowan Gomez, a powerful voice in the transgender community, who reminded us, “We are here to support each other... and I’m proud to be part of the Friendly City, to be a part of making things happen.”
City Center Plaza was buzzing with heart and we’re just getting started This same welcoming space has transformed for our summer series: the Rohnert Park Farmers Market and Party on the Plaza has officially kicked off! Expect fresh produce, local goods, music, food, and good vibes all summer long through August 29.
On Friday, June 13, the City of Rohnert Park held its third annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall. Together, we gathered in reflection, remembrance, and celebration honoring the legacy of Juneteenth and the continued pursuit of equity and justice The proclamation was proudly accepted by Carla Taylor, a dedicated board member on the City’s Mobile Home Rent Appeals Board.
Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation It’s a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is not freedom fulfilled and that our collective work toward justice must be ongoing.
As the Juneteenth flag was raised above City Hall, we reflected on the strength, resilience, and immeasurable contributions of Black Americans throughout history and in our own community. From culture and innovation to leadership and advocacy, their impact shapes the very heart of Rohnert Park.
This annual ceremony is more than symbolic— it’s a commitment A commitment to building a city where all residents are seen, heard, and valued. Where inclusion is not just an idea, but a practice. And where we recognize that progress requires not only presence, but purpose
Let us carry the spirit of Juneteenth forward, as we continue to work together toward a future rooted in truth, equity, and unity
Happy Juneteenth, Rohnert Park.

While compost deliveries don’t happen on a fixed schedule, we do our best to bring them in as often as possible We’ll continue to post updates when new load become available, so residents can plan to pick up what they need.
If you’d like access to compost yearround, you can also visit Zero Waste Sonoma’s regional compost hubs. One o the most underutilized—and convenient locations is Veronda-Falletti Ranch, located at 175 West Sierra Avenue in Cotati.

Sugar is a 1-year-old dwarf hamster with a bold spirit and a shy streak. While she's not the cuddliest critter, she has a curious nature and a strong sense of independence. Sugar enjoys zooming on her wheel and digging deep burrows in her bedding. She needs time and patience to warm up to people (she is nibbly now, so not for children) - but watching her in her element is a joy all on its own! (We also have guinea pigs and rabbits available).

Imagine a local force dedicated to nurturing creativity, fostering community, and empowering the next generation right here in Rohnert Park That force is the Credo High Foundation, a vibrant nonprofit that has been a cornerstone of Credo High School since 2010 Their mission is clear: to raise funds and build a thriving community by championing the arts, music, and the spirit of adventure in learning.
But the Foundation’s impact stretches far beyond mere fundraising They are the architects behind the lively events that weave the Credo community together – from laughter-filled comedy nights to the beloved annual Winter Faire and spirited chili cookoffs These gatherings not only generate crucial financial support but also create a palpable sense of belonging for students, parents, and the wider Rohnert Park community
The primary beneficiaries of this dedication are the students and families of Credo High School. This unique public Waldorf high school is committed to developing creative thinkers, effective communicators, and compassionate individuals ready to face the complexities of the world with empathy and understanding. The Foundation’s support is integral to this mission, enriching the educational experience in profound ways
One of the most remarkable aspects of Credo High, significantly bolstered by the Foundation, is its commitment to the arts While California mandates a minimum of 10 arts units by senior year in public education, Credo sophomores astonishingly accumulate 40 units! This deep immersion in artistic expression, alongside robust music and adventure learning programs, is a direct result of the Credo High Foundation’s unwavering support Credo High stands as a beacon – one of the few public Waldorf high schools nationwide, attracting families seeking this holistic educational approach. The student body itself is a rich tapestry, with half arriving from traditional Waldorf backgrounds and the other half bringing diverse experiences from public, private, and home schooling environments
The influence of Credo High, and by extension the Foundation, extends beyond its immediate attendees. The school’s unique appeal draws families to Rohnert Park specifically, bolstering our local community Furthermore, dedicated families commute from areas as far as Vallejo, Sonoma, San Rafael, and Napa, highlighting the school’s regional significance and the Foundation’s wider impact.
The community at large also benefits directly from Credo High’s commitment to service. Community service hours are a core component of the curriculum, with graduating seniors required to complete a significant number This instills a sense of civic responsibility in students while providing valuable assistance to local organizations and initiatives
You can be a part of the positive impact! Here’s how:
Looking towards the future, the Credo Foundation plays a crucial role in preparing students for college and beyond The school boasts full-time college counselors, working in tandem with academic counselors, who begin guiding families as early as ninth grade. This early and personalized support helps students identify their strengths and navigate their academic journeys with confidence. Moreover, the Foundation champions the innovative One Planet Living program at Credo High, fostering a deep understanding of sustainability and responsible global citizenship
Like any passionate nonprofit, the Credo High Foundation faces challenges. Encouraging consistent parent participation, especially given the geographically diverse community, remains a key focus To bridge this gap and keep everyone informed, the Foundation utilizes school newsletters and weekly slideshows Additionally, each grade level has a dedicated parent liaison, acting as a vital link between families and the Foundation.
Stay Connected: Follow the Credo High Foundation on Facebook and Instagram to get the latest updates on events and initiatives You won't want to miss out! Volunteer Your Time: The Foundation thrives on community involvement Lend a hand at upcoming events – your support is invaluable in making them a resounding success.
Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities: Local businesses, mark your calendars! The annual Winter Fair is scheduled for Sunday, November 16th Consider becoming a sponsor and demonstrating your commitment to education and the Rohnert Park community
