“KEEPPEOPLEHOUSED” PROGRAMSETTOLAUNCH
The Keep People Housed (KPH) program is set to launch in December. KPH is 3.9 million dollar homelessness prevention pilot designed to stop Sonoma County residents from falling into homelessness. The program will serve 350 to 400 households in the first two years. The program can support participants with costs including rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, and other expenses connected to staying housed. COTS, a leading homeless service nonprofit, will operate the program.

After a few years of heavy rainfall, water levels in Sonoma County have seen a significant recovery. Lakes Sonoma and Mendocino, vital sources of water for the area, are now full or nearly full (Lake Sonoma is at 95.2% while Lake Mendocino is at 83%). However, drought is always just around the corner in California, so the City continues to stay on top of water conservation efforts.
One of the key programs the City is continuing is the Cash for Grass Program. This initiative encourages residents to replace their water-thirsty lawns with drought-tolerant landscaping. The amount of water a lawn uses depends on many factors, including the climate, the type of grass, and the lawn size. On average, a lawn needs 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week, about 0.623 gallons per square foot. By replacing your lawn with droughttolerant landscaping, residents can significantly reduce their water usage, as lawns account for a large portion of household water consumption.
The program offers residents $1 for every square foot of lawn replaced, up to a maximum of $1,000.
To participate in the program, residents must first schedule a pre-inspection to determine the size of their lawn and confirm it is regularly watered Once the lawn is replaced with drought-tolerant plants, the City will schedule a post-inspection to finalize the rebate amount. This process ensures that the program is effectively contributing to water conservation goals.
The Cash for Grass Program is just one part of our broader water conservation strategy. The city is also continuing its High-Efficiency Washer Rebate Program, which offers residents up to $75 to replace old, waterintensive washing machines with more efficient models. Both programs are funded through a combination of city funds and grant reimbursements, maximizing the impact of these initiatives.
Even though recent rains have provided some relief, Rohnert Park remains committed to long-term water conservation. By continuing programs like Cash for Grass and the HighEfficiency Washer Rebate Program, the City aims to ensure a sustainable water supply for its residents, even in the face of future droughts.

PARADISEPETRESORT
Have you heard of Paradise Pet Resort? It's a top-notch place for your furry friends to stay and play while you're away! They opened their doors in Rohnert Park 12 years ago, but did you know they've been taking care of pets in Santa Rosa since 2007? That's right, they have two locations to serve you!
Why Rohnert Park?
Paradise Pet Resort saw a great opportunity in Rohnert Park. The spot they're in used to be the Boardwalk Pet Village, so it was already set up perfectly for furry guests. They wanted to expand from their Santa Rosa location, and Rohnert Park, known as the Friendly City, seemed like the perfect fit. With exciting places like the casino, the Green Music Center, and the new upcoming downtown area, it's a happening place for humans and pets!
What Makes Paradise Pet Resort Special?
Paradise Pet Resort is different from other pet boarding places because they have an all-day play environment. This keeps the dogs happy, socialized, and exercised. But that's not all! You can even check in on your dog throughout the day using their cool webcams. And before you decide to board your pet, you can take a tour of the whole place to see just how awesome it is. And the best part? The pool splash area! It's a huge hit with all the dogs who stay there. Don’t forget, Paradise Pet Resort also welcomes cats and birds as part of the pack .
What's Next for Paradise Pet Resort?
Paradise Pet Resort wants to keep doing what they do best: providing the best possible care for your pets. SLATE
Slate is a 5-7 year old husky that came to us as a stray almost a year ago! He’s worked his way into all our hearts with his calm demeanor and friendly air. He can be selective about his dog friends but is not dog reactive by any means.
This handsome blue-eyed charmer would love to cuddle up and keep you warm this winter… and always.
Panda is on her third go-around at being in a shelter, through no fault of her own. No wonder this pretty short-haired cat is stressed and having urinary tract infections!
At about 8-years-old her story is long and sad, but she is a sweet cat with just a touch of spice; and deserves to find a forever home to settle into. With her striking looks and sweet personality, Panda is ready to be your one and only.
Chloe is an adorable adult rabbit, patiently waiting for her forever home! Found as a stray in Rohnert Park back in May, she's ready to trade her solo adventures for a cozy, loving family.
Chloe would thrive with rabbitsavvy humans who understand her gentle ways, and she might even hop her way into the heart of another bunny friend if given the chance.
