01- Evaluating environmental performance of Mashrabiya (Generating guidelines for contemporary implementation) Master dissertation 2018-2019. University of Westminster.

Scan the QR code to see the full published paper.

Description: The study in this paper aims to illustrate and evaluate the environmental performance of Mashrabiya , Mashrabiya is a traditional component implemented in Islamic architecture to achieve a better performance towards excessive solar gains resulted from the sunlight exposure in hot climates. Mashrabiya as a component gather different screens and geometries, which have a major impact on the total performance of such a component. This eventually affect the indoor conditions and users comfort inside the space. The main objectives of this paper was to quantify Mashrabiya as shading element and a source of natural ventilation and understand the environmental aspects behind the patterns and the geometry selection. The paper portrays the implementation of Mashrabiya concept in contemporary designs through providing systematic studies that facilitate the understanding of the performance of each screen according to orientation and geometry. Also a formula was driven to allow the users to link the depth of a normal horizontal shading fin and convert it to the perforation percentage of the screens that will replace it.

Methodology followed in analysing the screens

The second level: In this part the scope was on comparing the performance of different geometries and how the combination of different patterns in one component will affect the total performance of the component. This level the performance was tested in terms of:

• Solar radiation. • Illuminance and daylight. • Discharge coefficient.

03- Sustainable Nubian village in Aswan- Egypt 3d max modeling and city mapper analysis Urban designing- Architectural designing-statics calculations- social surveys Graduation project Suhag – Egypt Nuba- Aswan- Egypt

Description:

Nubian culture is one of the oldest cultures located in south Egypt, It is a hybrid culture between the pharonic history and Arabic culture that entered Egypt after. However, the Nubian culture is on of the endangered culture, as their villages were merged into water during the construction of the high dam.

This project aims to revitalize the cultural habits of the Nubian people through designing a 4.2 square kilometer village implemented from the traditional urban fabric of the Nubian village. After making draft sketches of the design proposal a survey was made among the Nubian villagers to test their satisfaction towards the design.

Urban development of Khamis SOUQ Abha- Saudi Arabia

The architecture and interior designs made was a form of a freelancing work, where the space dimensions and the users desires were studied and a design was proposed based on that.

Each design is described from a rendered 3D view with the use of different softwares , sometimes the space is already designed architecturally and only the proposal is made for interior designing.

Each design depends on the customer taste, the budget and cost limitation and applicability of applying the ideas in the common market. Designed façade- in Cairo – 6th October city
