Modding, Networking, and Hosting with Minecraft - Ages 8–16 Minecraft is hugely popular because it’s collaborative, openended, and moddable. Our program preserves those qualities and adds a large dose of fun! The week begins with learning the game, controls, recipes, and a bit about hosting and networking. Next, campers connect to different worlds hosted on our secure server and experiment with character skins, mods, and custom maps. By day three, the campers build in the Active Learning World that grows over time. Whether adding a room, building a moat, or even creating a chessboard, the possibilities are nearly limitless. This is a halfday program. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp Video Game Creation – Platform Style – Like Sonic & Mario - Ages 8-16 In this camp, children build a game described as a “platform” game, like Sonic or Mario. Children have a blast as their characters do the impossible, overcome obstacles and opponents, and then conquer the Big Boss. The character progresses on a long path (like a journey) with the background scrolling behind it, and adversaries, prizes and obstacles are encountered as it goes. Lessons on the basics will be similar to the Arcade course in the very beginning, but the class diverges and different programming techniques are taught in order to build this Platform game. This is a halfday program. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp. Kodu Video Game Creation & Adventure - Ages 7-16 Children will have the option of learning how to program using a Microsoft Xbox controller. Students will create their own cool custom world and navigate through it. Within this world they will create tasks that need to be completed in order to progress to the next level. Some of those tasks include escaping a sewer maze, survival mode, outwitting rivals, creating decoys, and collecting bonus items all while having fun! This is a halfday camp. Xbox controller is optional and supplied by the student. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp.

LEVEL ONE CSI CAMP

HALF DAY (12:30-3:30)

JUNE 26-30 JULY 31- AUGUST 4

Ages 10-13 This fun, interactive, 12-unit project-oriented forensic science program (2 - 3 lessons each day) is designed to engage and expose students to this truly fascinating area of science! Students in ages 10-13 are immersed in roles of crime scene investigators as they work together examining and analyzing evidence needed to solve a mystery. Using real laboratory techniques and materials, students create theories about the “crime” in a classroom, much as real detectives (and real scientists) use their powers of critical thinking to track down the thief. Along the way, they practice this critical thinking, acquire new vocabulary, explore careers in forensics, and become acquainted with scientific procedures and processes they will encounter in their future science electives. At its core, this program is designed to spark students’ interest in science.
