FUTURE READY AT THE ROCK

REOPENING PLAN 2020-21

Rockhurst High School has educated young men in Kansas City in the Jesuit tradition for more than 110 years. The formation at Rockhurst is based on an emphasis of cura personalis (individual care for each person), led by our faculty and staff. That carries into their peer-to-peer relationships, formed in the Ignatian Experience.

We believe that our Task Force to Reopen School (TFRS) that has met THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ROCKHURST three times each week for several months has created a plan that HIGH SCHOOL! allows for safe return to in-person learning, should families choose to do so. Rockhurst is offering both in-person and distance learning, especially to protect the most vulnerable members of our school community, and to provide the anticipated, necessary flexibility to accommodate quarantine and isolation. Rockhurst High School plans to return to in-person learning with students beginning on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020 with three days of Student Orientation. Regular classes will begin on Thursday, Aug. 20. The school will practice remote learning for all students on Wednesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 27. Please see the calendar for more dates and information.

01

In order to best prepare students for a Rockhurst education, the school will hold scheduled Remote Learning Days on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27. This provides staff and students an opportunity to experience distance learning in the event that the school would pivot to that option long-term, an individual student would be approved for longer-term remote learning, or a student needed to quarantine or isolate temporarily. Rockhurst is committed to ensuring that all learning options are rooted in the Grad at Graduation qualities - committed to justice, religious, open to growth, intellectually competent, and loving - to form "men for others" of competence, conscience, and compassion. Whether a student is in person or remote in their learning, the goals of a Rockhurst education remain the same and the Parent/Student Handbook policies apply.
