BUILDING BRIDGES: COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS IN SUPPORT OF MWBEs

While it is both difficult and challenging to address the many wrongs and inequities that have occurred throughout our history, it is so encouraging to witness so much dedication, hard work, and collaboration today that is focused on addressing these historical issues. While none of us can undo the past, all of us can build a better future for everyone.

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is a convener, seeking to bring together organizations and people to maximize our collective impact. Today, we are excited to work with corporate partners, government entities, and community organizations to find ways to uplift the underrepresented groups who have faced enduring barriers.

We are proud to work with Monroe County, COMIDA, and MCIDC to recognize the newly certified minority- and womanowned business enterprises (MWBEs) in Rochester, and commend their efforts to encourage increased participation of minority and women-owned businesses in County contracting. To further this partnership and reaffirm our commitment to the support of diverse businesses, we will be offering one year of complimentary membership to any business that obtained MWBE certification in 2023 and is not already a member of Greater Rochester Chamber.

In addition, Greater Rochester Chamber works with our region’s largest employer, the University of Rochester, on the Upstate New York Supplier Diversity Summit each year. This Summit serves as a pivotal platform for diverse-owned businesses to gain valuable business insights, as well as network with other diverse MWBE owners and changemakers at notable corporations in our region.

While we are proud to connect over 1,300+ member organizations throughout the Greater Rochester region, this work can also be done by small business leaders like you. Connecting with other MWBEs in our community is a way to take your future into your own hands. Meet fellow diverse business leaders, build relationships, and find synergies to help each other grow. Greater Rochester Chamber’s member directory has resources to find other MWBEs, and Monroe County’s MWBE Certification listings are available to open the door.

I would be remiss to discuss partnership and building bridges without thanking our program partner, Insero & Co. CPAs, LLP, for helping bring this inaugural awards program to Greater Rochester. Additional thanks to our sponsors for their support and steadfast commitment to recognizing diverse business success. Congratulations to the fifty businesses being honored with our first annual Greater Rochester Chamber MWBE Awards, and to the 231 newly certified MWBEs! We are proud of your success and contributions to our region and are excited to see your future growth.

It’s time to build bridges. We are stronger together, paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for Greater Rochester and all its people.

Greater Rochester Chamber

A NOTE FROM INSERO & CO. CPAs, LLP

We are honored to have partnered with Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce in celebrating the accomplishments of the Top 50 small business Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises. As we got together to discuss kicking off the planning for the inaugural year for this award, we were all puzzled that we hadn’t thought to do this years ago. At Insero & Co., a woman-led accounting firm boasting over 56% female representation in leadership, this is a passion of mine and our partnership with the Chamber reflects our commitment to fostering greater recognition and initiatives aimed at advancing local MWBEs.

The Top 50 MWBEs, ranked by growth percentage, collectively generated $130 million in local revenues. These businesses span a diverse array of industries, with service prominently represented by 53% of the 50 companies, and construction coming in as the second highest industry represented with 28% of the total revenues. The results signal promising prospects for regional growth.

With this being the inaugural year, our selection criteria encompassed companies with revenues ranging from $100,000 to $20,000,000. We were gratified by the overwhelming response to our call for applications and anticipate even broader participation in the coming years. The future appears bright for our MWBE community, and we extend our heartfelt wishes for continued success to all involved.

Please join me in celebrating a true driving force in our local economy, and here’s to a bigger, better, and even more diverse 2024!

ABOUT THE GREATER ROCHESTER CHAMBER

MWBE AWARDS

To propel an environment of equitable economic growth and empowerment, Greater Rochester Chamber proudly presents the 2024 Greater Rochester Chamber MWBE Awards, in partnership with Insero & Co. CPAs, LLP. Our unwavering belief in extending avenues of economic progress to all employers, regardless of their background, is a key part of our mission.

The Greater Rochester Chamber MWBE Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of our region’s fastest-growing minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs), highlighting their courageous journeys and ongoing success stories.

The Greater Rochester Chamber MWBE Awards are designed to not only celebrate the success stories of the MWBEs in our community, but to give them a platform to build their brands and set themselves up for future successes. Honorees can generate enhanced credibility, employee satisfaction, and attract customers and talented employees alike.

Based on our successful Top 100 program, this year’s inaugural program is celebrating the Top 50 fastest growing, privately-owned small MWBEs headquartered in the Greater Rochester region. Minority- and women-owned designations were self selected by applicants. Growth calculations are based on revenue dollar growth and percentage growth.

PRESENTED IN RANK ORDER, WE ARE PROUD TO SHARE THE 2024

GREATER ROCHESTER CHAMBER MWBE AWARD HONOREES
