In 1956 the business became a limited company, and seeking new opportunities successfully applied for the Volkswagen franchise thus beginning their long association with Audi Volkswagen. Within a couple of years, a second major redevelopment provided workshop and parts facilities to keep pace with the success of the group’s sales. Volkswagen and Audi models were housed at our purposebuilt (and one of the largest in the country) premises until the brands parted after 40 years together. The first bespoke Audi Centre opened on Hall Road, Norwich, in October 1997. Robinsons Audi was Europe’s first dedicated Audi Centre and led to the brand introducing a number of Audi Centres in the UK operating separately from Volkswagen. The structure of the Centre was extremely modern for the time, featuring a glass and aluminium exterior and relaxed interior for a new era of car buying. A decade later, the current Norwich Audi dealership on Meridian Way was revealed. Great glass panelling, curving along an outdoor water feature set this location apart from all that came before. Reflecting the burning glow from the sunset, and boasting enormous Audi rings impresses from the exterior. Spreading from its first registered addresses in Norwich, Robinsons Motor Group now occupies 28 dealerships across East Anglia, including Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Ipswich and Lowestoft. The Group proudly offers a range of brands including Audi, Mercedes-Benz, SEAT, Citroën, DS, SKODA, smart, Volkswagen and qualityassured used car brand Auto Devotion. Robinsons Audi remains a part of a rich history of a local familyowned business.
