Regulation of the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing should be drafted for all technologies, as there are grounds to believe that the use of some of the
chemicals used for hydraulic fracturing is illegal under REACH, a concern ex-
pressed by the European Commission itself, which adds to the need for a ban for the particular technology of hydraulic fracturing.58
Bearing all this in mind, we urge the European Commission and the European Parliament
to make use of the precautionary principle and all of the above and ban hydraulic fracturing.
