Bo Zou: Digital Veteran, Brand Expert, UX Specialist, Banking Advocate

Bio Summary Bo Zou is a Toronto-based user experience (UX) specialist who brings intelligent, forwardthinking user experience and design to leading brands as they participate in the digital transformation. In his decade-plus career, Bo has provided brands with guidance and solutions for creating innovative user experiences across all digital ecosystems, as well as in non-digital and emerging channels, such as wearables and phy-gital interactions.

Education Bo earned his undergraduate degree in China, graduating from Jilin University in 2001 and earning a Bachelor of Applied Science from the school. Graduating with distinction from the school, he focused on the area of Applied Physics. Following his graduation from Jilin


University, Bo earned two separate master’s degrees, one from City University London, the second from University of London. At City University London, Bo studied visual arts and arts criticism, graduating in 2002 from the school with a Master of Arts degree. From 2005 to 2006, Bo studied in the area of human computer interaction with ergonomics at University College London, graduating from the school with a Master of Science degree.

Bringing UX Solutions to Leading Brands Bo Zou has built his career around providing solutions that allow businesses to merge innovative user experience and design with digital transformation. Along with advising on how businesses can most intelligently transform in today’s digital era, his career has also been shaped by advising businesses on how to create and optimize their brand channels to allow for rich, meaningful communication with their customer base. Bo’s approach to UX tempers the disruption of technology with the harmonizing effects of tradition – specifically by introducing the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui into the equation. He has been a front-runner in bringing the concept of 'harmonious design' into the business world through the application of ancient Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui, helping to bring a sense of harmony into today's supercharged, chaotic world. Bo has developed and executed UX strategy and design for companies that include HeathWallace, Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Canada, Citibank, Scotiabank, Manulife, Fidelity, AMEX, Nissan/Infiniti, and Molson Coors, among others.

Banking Advocacy In addition to his work in user experience and design, Bo Zou is a passionate advocate for increased banking access to those in developing countries who are currently underserved by traditional banking institutions. He believes that the blockchain provides a unique opportunity to create a new digital banking infrastructure that can bring banking solutions cheaper and more quickly to the roughly 2 billion people in the world who are unbanked.
