SIXTH FORM WEEKLY BULLETIN Friday 5th May 2017

Issue No: 38

Message from Mrs Freeman It has been great to see the smiling faces of Year 12 re-join us this week after 4 days of assessments. They have clearly worked hard and put their all into revision over the Easter break. I have been dealing this week with a number of niggles between friends and I want to re-iterate the words of the Head master at my son's school 'be nice, be nice, be nice'. We may be in the Sixth Form, but these words are still hugely important. This is the time of year where exam pressure hits and it is essential that everyone is looking out for each other and being 'nice' and supporting one another whilst taking care of ourselves. Have a good weekend everyone! Notes for Year 12 It seems that as a result of what is happening in an unnamed school down the road, some Year 12 students have become overly concerned regarding the status of the assessments they have just completed. Please rest assured that these assessments merely form part of the bigger picture that teachers use to inform predicted grades.

Message from Miriam First of all, I am very pleased to be taking on a role that Fenella has performed so brilliantly throughout the year. I have always found her words in this bulletin to be well-inspired and thought-provoking. Following a week of mock exams for Year 12, the Trinity term is now officially underway. Over the next few weeks we will say ‘goodbye’ to the Year 13s as Year 12s will begin to prepare for our final year at RMS. However, the school year is far from over just yet; we look forward to a summer term filled with sports matches, a UCAS Convention, theatre trips and as well as of course the inevitable revision. As we begin to round off the year, I encourage you to particularly keep in mind the Values for this term – Commitment and Tolerance. While the long summer holiday is now within sight, it is important to retain focus and to concentrate on making ‘one last push’, especially for the Year 13s, who will be taking their A Level exams in just a few weeks. I wish you all every success in what I hope will be a fantastic term for everyone. Miriam
