LIMA SEA EXERCISE
TThe Langkawi International Maritime andAerospace Exhibition (LIMA) Sea Exercise (LSX), first introduced during the 13th edition of LIMA, has become a key event in strengthening ties and cooperation among local, regional, and international naval forces. This exercise plays a crucial role in enhancing interoperability and joint operations between participating nations. While its execution may seem straightforward, it is structured with professionalism and readiness, meeting the demands of modern maritime operations. LSX is a valuable platform for exchanging experiences and best practices, reinforcing collective capabilities in addressing maritime security challenges.
One of the standout features of LSX is the sail pass, an event that honours the foreign and local vessels participating in the exercise. This symbolic gesture reflects
mutual respect and strengthens the bonds of collaboration among the participating nations. LSX, therefore, is not only a military exercise but also a diplomatic avenue that fosters closer international and local relations. The countries' ability to operate cohesively during the exercise demonstrates the importance of such collaboration, which is essential for preparedness in real-world maritime scenarios.
LIMA`25 promises to mark another milestone for LSX, with naval ships from local, regional, and international forces participating. Their collective involvement underscores the relevance and importance of naval diplomacy in maintaining regional stability. Their shared commitment to cooperation, unity, and mutual respect ensures the continuity of global maritime security. As LSX evolves, it continues to serve as a strategic platform, underscoring the significance of diplomatic relations in today’s complex maritime landscape.
Now, as we look to LIMA`25, expectations are higher than ever. Under the theme “Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow”, the exhibition reflects the urgent need for continuous innovation to remain competitive and resilient in an evolving defence environment. Organised by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and co-organised by Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC), this edition strengthens government and industry partnerships. LIMAhas evolved into a global platform that attracts hundreds of industry leaders and tens of thousands of visitors from around the world, and LIMA`25—taking place from 20 to 24 May 2025—promises to be bigger, bolder, and more memorable, with exciting new features and immersive experiences. The exhibition will be anchored by two main segments:
Aerospace segment at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC)
Yet LIMA is more than just an event—it is a strategic platform for forging partnerships, attracting investments, and supporting Malaysia’s long-term development goals. Through key frameworks like the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint (MAIB) and the Malaysian Shipping Industry Master Plan, LIMA plays a critical role in shaping Malaysia’s future as a regional hub for defence and innovation. Whether you’re an industry leader, policymaker, or enthusiast, LIMA`25 offers a front-row seat to the technologies and ideas shaping the skies and seas of tomorrow.

SYNERGISING GOOD GOVERNANCE THROUGH EFFECTIVE POLICY FOR MARITIME PROSPERITY
ince its inception in 2019, the Malaysia Maritime Conference (MMC) has grown into a flagship event, reflecting the nation's aspirations to emerge as a global maritime power. Originally launched as the National Maritime Conference, the MMC has transformed significantly—both in scope and ambition. Now an internationally attended event, it serves as a vital platform to align national maritime priorities with global best practices while celebrating Malaysia’s rich maritime heritage. Over the years, MMC has evolved into a strategic forum where maritime agencies, industry leaders, policymakers, and international stakeholders converge to tackle pressing maritime challenges. From security and sustainability to governance and growth, the conference fosters open dialogue and innovation-driven discussions to strengthen Malaysia’s maritime ecosystem. The MMC has helped shape national maritime governance by encouraging inter-agency coordination, strategic policymaking, and long-term planning. These efforts have fortified Malaysia’s maritime posture, addressing traditional security concerns and economic and environmental dimensions of maritime policy.
The theme for MMC 2025—"Malaysia: A Maritime Nation – Synergising Good Governance Through Effective Policy for Maritime Prosperity"—captures the essence of Malaysia’s strategic vision. This year’s conference focuses on building robust, forward-looking governance frameworks essential for securing a sustainable and prosperous maritime future. The 2025 edition highlights two pivotal sessions:
Harnessing the Blue Economy - will explore innovative strategies for sustainable resource management and economic collaboration. With global sustainability goals in focus, experts will discuss how to unlock the full potential of Malaysia’s maritime resources while protecting marine ecosystems.
Charting Maritime Policy - brings together regional and international thought leaders to examine the complexities of maritime policymaking. From success stories to hard-learned lessons, speakers will share actionable insights to help refine Malaysia’s maritime policies and governance approaches.

More than just a conference, it is a strategic milestone—an opportunity to form new partnerships, share expert knowledge, and drive collective action. With strong leadership, shared vision, and effective policy, Malaysia is well-positioned to thrive in the increasingly complex maritime landscape. MMC 2025 will chart the course for national prosperity and resilience and reaffirm Malaysia’s position as a proactive, secure, and forward-looking maritime nation.
