FAMILY SERVICES OUTCOMES REPORT 2024

A Year to Thrive Together

• Last year, Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room supported 291 unique families.This number is lower than in previous years. The main factor for this decline is the increased complexity and severity of the illnesses affecting the children, leading to longer family stays.

• We provided services to 502 children, including siblings, and 724 adults, comprising both patients and seniors.

• The typical average length of stay at both facilities was 20 nights.

• The year's occupancy rate stood at 84%, primarily due to maintenance closures of rooms and family schedules requiring rooms being open for 1-2 nights while awaiting their arrival.

Average Length of Stay

Last year, we had 4 patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, with families typically staying for 3 months or more due to treatment complexities. Additionally, 44% of the new families we assisted were dealing with prematurity, which represented 28% of our stays and 39% of total nights.

Maintenance Repairs

Maintenance repairs are ongoing and impacted our occupancy. Last year, 223 nights, there were rooms unavailable rooms, and 7 rooms were out of service due to A/C motor replacements.

Establishing Relationships

During this time of transformation, we recognized the importance of building lasting relationships to deliver familycentered care.

We formed connections with NINE new partners, enabling us to provide families with essential services, including respite care, diaper assistance, burial assistance, gas for travel, and more.

Concierge Connect

Our program offers a tailored experience for guest families. By engaging with them personally, we ensure outstanding service and foster strong relationships, which helps us identify and meet their needs effectively.

House -To-Home

Families are vital to their child's hospital care, but moving back home can be difficult. Our House-to-Home program equips families with essential tools to promote the best health outcomes for their children.

Hospitality Carts

Thanks to the Chris & Latrise Bardell Family Foundation, we launched a new hospitality cart last year, expanding services to Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

Healing Hearts

Transforming to a new House required more than just moving. In 2024, we launched a program to support families experiencing the loss of a child. This initiative provides families with a "Healing Hearts" grief box and offers limited burial assistance.

Meals From the Heart

Meals from the Heart remains our most rewarding and popular volunteer opportunity! In 2024, volunteers contributed 100 nights filled with energy and enthusiasm, which totaled an amazing 1,317 hours to prepare and serve meals straight from their hearts.
