Mr. Chris Bardell, our generous RMHCSLA former board member, McDonald’s Owner/Operator, and founder of the Chris & Lentriese Bardell Family Foundation, stands with the Hospitality Cart he donated to grace the halls of CHNOLA. This cart was a true collaboration as we worked with his team and artists at YA-YA to create a mobile House to spark care, comfort and compassion beyondourdoors.

Our thanks to everyone who helped to raise over $31,000 for our families!
We were once again selected as the non-profit partner for Festival International de Louisiane and honored to have $2,500 donated to RMHCSLA through pin sales. Is a new home on your holiday wish list? The Acadian Home Builder’s Association (AHBA) wants to get you in a new Home for the Holidays this year!
This year’s celebration is extra special as AHBA marks the 20th anniversary Home For The Holidays and ushers in a new partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana (RMHCSLA). Proceeds from custom-home raffle ticket sales will directly support families in the Acadiana area who rely on RMHCSLA services.
The luxury dream home is being built at 112 Abercrombie Way in the lovely Langlinais Estates neighborhood. Legendary Contractors, LLC is generously building the home along with a cadre of stellar sponsors.
Mary Sliman, AHBA CEO, shares her excitement: “We’ve proudly partnered with nonprofits in the past, and we’re thrilled to continue this tradition with Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana. In February, we launched our House to Home initiative. This community resources program allows us to match families with the essential services they will need once they return home.
Denise Parker, our dedicated Community Resources Specialist, is there every step of the way, supporting families as they transition back home and continues to connect with them to ensure that during this most stressful time they continue to have the support of RMHCSLA.
We are proud of this opportunity to further extend the arms of compassion we wrap around our families. We are extremely grateful to the Eugenie & Joseph Jones Family Foundation for their generous program support!

The Castilles are a family of 5. After Baby Isabella was born prematurely, her mom, Amanda was suffering from post-partum depression. With her two older girls in school and sports, they remained at home while Amanda stayed in our House alone. The weekdays were the toughest because she missed her family and their routine. She knew there had to be other moms feeling the same way, but how could she connect with them?
She approached Denise, and our new QualiTea Time Peer Support Group was born!
This weekly support group will provide our guests with time to come together over tea and biscuits to share community and hope!
When the White family arrived at RMHCSLA, Darielle initially was facing challenges with breastfeeding her daughter. Understandably, Darielle and her husband Anthony were overwhelmed and emotional. The challenges only got worse when Anthony who had been commuting to Baton Rouge for work was laid off.
In desperation, Anthony reached out to Denise, who was able to connect him with three temporary job opportunities, which greatly relieved their stresses. During the interview process baby Allison was discharged, and upon their return home, Anthony secured a local job. Thanks to the quick actions of Denise, this family was able to find support during their darkest hours.
While Teona was traveling to Lake Charles, Louisiana, her water broke. Teona gave birth to her daughter alone in a hotel bathroom. She had no friends or family support.
Her preemie, Princess, needed immediate specialized care, so she was airlifted to CHNOLA. Teona had no transportation or money, so the social workers of Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital rallied to provide a bus ticket. Thanks to the dogged diligence of Denise, Teona was able to qualify for her own much needed healthcare with Louisiana Medicaid and SSI benefits for baby Princess- a process that normally takes up to 22 months!
Cathy Flynn, superstar wife of former board member Mike Flynn, marked her 60th year with a day of service at the House with her friends & family!
ADPi always brings magic and wonder to our families! Here they are at Easter right before the egg hunt with handmade baskets and goodies for all!

Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it comes to our two longtime advocates and board members, Reecee Lanier and Mike Flynn. Thank you both for your dedicated years of service and passion for our mission.
I am honored to have served with such a wonderful staff and dedicated board members. The House and its mission remain close to my heart.

I am very proud of my time as the RMHCSLA Treasurer, with the highlight being the opening of the new House. It has been a pleasure working with my fellow Board Members, Grace, and the Staff. As the Treasurer or a volunteer, visits to the House are the best reminder as to why we devote our time and effort to the RMHC mission, and for me the rewards are priceless.
