GeorgeRandallFrost wasbornonMarch7th, 2023andpassedawayMay5thpeacefullyinthe armsofhislovingparentsafterabraveandhard foughtbattlewithlungdisease.
RMHC-SLAfirstbecameawareofbabyGeorge's storythroughthemanygiftsmadetoourHouse inGeorge'shonor. WhenourExecutiveDirector, Grace McIntosh connected with George's parents,shewasstruckbytheFrosts'dedication tokeepGeorge'smemoryalivethroughservice tootherfamiliesthefacingmedicalchallenges oftheirownchildren.Gracehadthistosayabout meetingwithBrookeandRandall,"Iaminaweat theFrosts'ferventdesiretocreateablessingfor othersinbabyGeorge'sname.Thefactthattheir painhasbecometheimpetusforselflessnessis an inspiring thing to witness. We are truly thankfulfortheFrostssupportofparentsintheir timeofneed."
InhonoroftheFrostfamily,thesummerintern teamatGallagherInsurance(Brooke'semployer) hosted fundraisersinhismemory. Theinterns successfully raised $5000 and the leadership team was so inspired by their philanthropic effortsthattheywiththeGallagherleadership teammatchedthegiftforatotalof$10,000to honorthelifeofGeorgeRandallFrost.
TohonorthelegacyofbabyGeorge,RMHC-SLA willbenamingoneofourfamilyguestroomsin hishonor.Itisourwishthathisstorywillprovide strengthandhopetoallwhoenter ourHouse andfindrestinhisroom.

Ihavealwaysbeenthepersonthathelpsothers. Beingpartof theFamilyRoomatOurLadyofLourdesWomen's&Children's Hospital,readytoaidafamilyinneed,oramomneedingabreak, fills my heart. There is great joy and excitement seeing our familiesgraduatefromtheNICUandgohome. Knowingour FamilyRoomhashelpedineventhesmallestofwaysisspecial. Recentlyamomfromatownaboutanhourawaystayedwithus. HersonwasborninDecemberimmediatelyplacedinNICU. She had3youngboysathome.Duringher128daystay,shewas alwayshappy,joyful,andgratefulthattheFamilyRoomwashere soshecouldbeclosetoherbaby. Iwillalwaysappreciateher positiveattitude. Shenevershowedanystressandwasalways welcomingtonewfamilies.It'smomentslikethesethatremind
mewhywe'rehere.

movedtoLafayette2yearsbeforeIfoundmywaytotheFamily Room. I wanted to do more to help in my community when I appliedforaparttimeposition.Ienjoyhelpingothers,sobeing able to help families during their most difficult times is challengingbutrewarding.
TheFamilyRoomisimportanttomebecausethereisaneedthat wefulfill.Allofthefamiliesthatstayovernighttellushowwehave alleviatedfeelingsofstressanddepression.Allofthemomsand amilies that I encounter hold a special place in my heart.

De’Witt Angel, born in early June, was immediately taken by ambulanceforemergencysurgeryasherintestineswereclosed offfromherstomach.Hermomwasn’tevenabletoholdhernew babygirlbeforeshewaswhiskedaway. De’Witt’sgrandparents stood vigil in Lafayette until her mom was released from the hospitalduetopost-deliverycomplications.
The Family Room has been able to house her grandmother, cousin,and motherpostrecovery,cheeringonDe’Witt.Shehad surgerytoreattachherstomachtoherintestinesandisdoing well. De’WittalsohasbeendiagnosedwithCysticFibrosisand willneedadditionalcarethroughoutherlife.
Hermomexpressedhergratitude,“Ourfamilyappreciatesthe helpfromRMHCofSouthLouisiana -includingallthevolunteers whohavebeensosweetandhelpfulwitheverythinginourtime ofneed.Weloveandappreciateallthaty’allareandhavedone. THANKYOU.”
