A Message from the Executive Director Dear Rocky Mountain Arts Association Friends and Supporters, Well, the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year certainly flew by!

As you see from the graphs and figures on the following pages, RMAA continued positive trends in ticket sales and membership levels during the past year. The Association also experienced increases in individual donations, Guardian Circle Membership and government funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and Colorado Creative Initiatives (CCI) in 2017-2018.

RMAA did end Fiscal Year 2018 with a modest deficit, in large part because of significant onetime expenses; such as a long overdue comprehensive financial audit and the purchase of several pieces of office equipment we needed to ensure that the Association's office runs smoothly. We fell short of our corporate sponsorship goals for the year and the Board of Directors elected to move Cabaret Unleashed!, RMAA's major fundraising event, to Fall 2018; both of these factors also contributed to the deficit in Fiscal Year 2018. Overall, we fell short of our budget goal for total income by just 3% , and exceeded our budgeted expenses by only 5%.

Here are some highlights from Fiscal Year 2018: * 2017-2018 marked our 36th year as the premier LGBTQA arts organization in the Rocky Mountain region. * RMAA Choruses, including the small ensembles, entertained 26,957 citizens in the seven-county Denver metropolitan area at 50 ticketed concerts, free community performances, educational outreach activities and fundraising events during the 2017-2018 season. * RMAA adopted Chorus Connection to manage all communications with chorus members, the DWC and DGMC Chorus Councils, and the RMAA Artistic and Administrative Staff. * We introduced a new and improved website to promote chorus concerts, manage ticket sales and to facilitate donations from our supporters. * RMAA welcomed three new individuals to expand its Board of Directors to eleven active members. * The RMAA Office installed a new computer system to conduct business functions and to enhance communication with members, donors and sponsors. * We purchased new pipe and draping for our concert productions at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Denver. * RMAA collaborated with four Denver-area nonprofit organizations to raise more than $10,000 in cash, goods and services to assist citizens experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in our city.

About Rocky Mountain Arts Association Our Mission Rocky Mountain Arts Association and its member choruses exist to "build community through music."

Our History Rocky Mountain Arts Association (RMAA) was incorporated on March 23, 1982 as the corporate name for its founding program, the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus. The chorus was the first arts program in Colorado to use the word “gay” in its name; at the time, that was controversial. In the early days of the ensemble's history, the Association name was used when signing contracts, soliciting and receiving donations, or in any other circumstance where the chorus name may not have been deemed acceptable by others.

Our Programs Rocky Mountain Arts Association serves as the umbrella organization for its two member choruses, The Denver Gay Men's Chorus (DGMC) and The Denver Women's Chorus (DWC).

The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus celebrated its thirty-sixth anniversary season in

2017-2018. Founded in 1982 by Robert “Melba” Moore, the chorus today is comprised of more than 120 volunteer singers from the greater Denver metropolitan area. Its members join together to make an artistic statement: The chorus, as it sings, provides educational, cultural and social enrichment for its audiences and members. It identifies as an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (GLBTQ) individuals and their supporters who actively make a positive contribution to the entire community. The chorus and its small a cappella ensemble, Off Kilter!, produce three ticketed concert series each year, sing at numerous free community outreach events and perform in schools to support at-risk youth in our community.

was founded in 1984 by Carol White and completed its thirty-fourth anniversary season in 2017-2018. With origins in the lesbian community, and open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, the chorus provides educational, cultural and social enrichment through its performances and activities, thereby making a positive contribution to its audiences, members and the entire community. With over 95 volunteer singing members, the chorus and its small a cappella ensemble, Take Note!, produce two ticketed concert series each year and sing at numerous community events in the Denver metropolitan area.
