n old stile shop with a metal sign, glass door and two small side display recesses in the center of Milan, was chosen by Locherber to show and sell his fragrances line. It is a small shop (only 35 square meters), but it is capable of surprising people through a laid-back reinterpretation of the inside of a “classic” perfumery, designed by the architect Andrea Castrignano for the first shop in Milan of the Swiss beauty company. The environment can be surely defined as vintage, but the tones selected – like the plum and wisteria colors of the ceiling and of the furniture – and the finishing tell a reinterpretation of the space in a contemporary key. A refined parquet links the two areas of the shop, the one dedicated to the products' display and the one conceived to savor the essences, searching for the perfect one, defined as olfactory. Nothing was left to chance in the development of this shop, capable of immediately catching pedestrians' attention thanks to its bright tones, but at the same time welcoming and warm as a living room. The lighting part was carefully designed by the Andrea Castrignano studio. For the design of the lighting plan we were inspired by the mood and the atmosphere that we wanted to recreate inside the environment, but also by some fundamental points: efficiency and practicality, esthetic and design, the need to achieve high energy performances.

For display areas we chose a soft and warm light, never direct. We focused both on a proper lighting of the spaces and on an adequate enhancement of the products. For this reason we preferred the backlighting of seatbacks and of furniture's tops, characterized by a fascinating white onyx. This solution contributes to create the refined feeling of being in a old-time living room. On the contrary service areas did not need this type of atmosphere, therefore we used LED spotlights capable of guaranteeing a good lighting, for example of the storage area”. The choice of the black polished Tate suspended luminaires by Panzeri is also interesting and, through a recall to the shape of traditional chandeliers, they downplay their esthetic. About the design of the Boutique Locherber the architect Andrea Castrignano says: “I am completely satisfied with the result obtained, my goal was to recreate a real atelier à parfums sophisticated and elegant with a refined vintage vibe. The calling to a careful craftsmanship which characterizes the Locherber's philosophy strongly inspired me and it guided all the study of the design's mood: from the choice of the furniture, to the study of the olfactory and of the lighting aspects aimed at enhancing the containers of the different fragrances. We designed a place with a classical vibe in which the decorative styles of the past were reinterpreted using a modern key, entering in the shop it seems to walk in an art nouveau room”.
