Horror crash case adjourned

Parent Teacher Association will host a table quiz in Naas GAA Club, Sallins Road, Naas on 22 April. The evening will begin at 8pm. All are welcome.
Parish race day Newbridge Parish Family
Race Day will take place on Monday, 2 May. There promises to be lots of entertainment for young and old. First race begins at 1.50am. Admission €10 – children U-16 are free.
Mini Moores Moorefield GAA Mini A young woman who was driving the car that her four friends lost their lives in, appeared before Athy District Court earlier this week. Dayna Kearney (21) is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of her friends Aisling Middleton (19) from Athy and Carlow natives Niamh Doyle (19), Chermaine Carroll (20), and Gemma Nolan (19) (pictured below). The defendant is also charged with driving a defective vehicle.
TRAVEL
The crash, between a car and van, took place on the N78 Athy Link Road at Burtown on January 6, 2015. The five young women had been ice-skating together and were returning home when the collision occurred. Defence solicitor, Seamus Taaffe, said: “She is hoping to travel to the United States this summer.”
Moores, Newbridge will host a social night on Saturday, 16 April. All coaches, parents and guardians are welcome to attend. Free admission and live music on the night.
BOND
Mr Taaffe explained that as part of the bond, she has handed in her passport. Inspector Gerry Egan said: “It might be better before the Circuit Court.” Judge Desmond Zaidan ordered that the defendant be sent forward for trial at Naas Circuit Court on 21 June. She is remanded on bail with a bond of €4,000, with an order to surrender her passport and reside at her home address at Crosteen, Carlow.
