Never a ‘Bridge too far for brilliant ladies
Johnstownbridge camogie heroes All-Ireland titles are not all too common in Kildare, successive titles are an even rarer entity. But this Johnstownbridge side are something special, and they etched their names in history on Sunday afternoon by landing their second AllIreland Junior Camogie Championship in ‘nervewracking’ fashion with a 1-10 to 1-9 win over Scariff Ogonnelloe in Birr. Player of the Match, Eimear Hurley, was relieved after
the final whistle of a frantic game where a late Mairead Scanlan goal narrowed the gap to one point as the game ticked into injury time. “It’s just about digging deep and winning dirty,” remarked Hurley. “We never got the breathing space.
