Memorial Trees & Bricks Donation Programs

The River Forest Park District is proud to offer two different memorial donation programs. Both programs are a perfect way to honor or share the memory of a loved one, or to commemorate a special event such as a wedding, an anniversary, or the birth of a child.

Memorial Tree Donation Program

For a one-time donation of $400, a tree will be planted at a park of your choosing, depending on availability. Our staff will meet with you to assist in selecting a location for your tree. Our staff will also assist you in choosing the tree if desired. Trees can be purchased throughout the year. However, planting will only take place in the spring and fall. Your donation will be immortalized on a beautifully engraved bronze plaque that will be mounted at the base of the tree. You may select a standard inscription or create a unique message, using an allotted number of characters. You will receive a certificate of acknowledgement for your tree purchase.

Memorial Brick Donation Program

(Priory Park and Washington Commons)

No matter which park you choose, these embossed bricks will be seen by all those who use the park. There is a 13 character per line maximum with three to six lines available, depending on the size of the paver brick. Paver brick orders are placed twice a year and installed once in the spring and once in the fall. You will receive a certificate of acknowledgement for your paver brick purchase. Paver bricks are available in three sizes: Priory Park - 4”x8” for $75 Priory Park - 8”x8” for $150 Washington Commons - 7”x9” for $100 Please visit our website rfparks.com to download forms, or pick up a Memorial Tree Donation or Memorial Brick Donation order form at The Depot, 401 Thatcher Avenue, River Forest, IL. The group has set a December 1, 2017 deadline to determine whether to move forward or withdraw from the project. Please note that no financial expenditures have been made to the project at this point. Thank you to our residents who completed the CRCC Survey and provided comments. This information has been helpful to the Board in determining the value of the possible collaboration. Information on the discussions is posted on the River Forest Park District website at www.rfparks.com.

Strategic Plan The Board is currently drafting a new three-year Strategic Plan, which will include new programs, new amenities, and a review of our indoor space needs. The Board expects a plan to be approved and implemented by May 1, 2018. Information on the Strategic Plan will be available on the River Forest Park District website at www.rfparks.com.

The Depot Interior Improvements Renovation of The Depot interior is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2018 and be completed by June 1, 2018. The project includes creating a larger, more versatile, handicap-accessible program room and consolidating our administration offices into a single, secure space. As part of this project, the Park District offices will be temporarily moved across the parking lot to 411 Thatcher Avenue. The offices are scheduled to move December 18 - 29, 2017 and will be closed during the move. Registration will be available on the Park District website at www.rfparks.com. During construction, the Park District Board Meetings will be held at any alternate site. Please refer to the Park District website at www.rfparks.com for the alternate location. The meetings will continue to be held on the second Monday of the month at 6:00pm, and the public is invited to attend.

Keystone Platform Tennis Courts The construction of the two new platform tennis courts at Keystone Park is complete. The two new courts will allow the Park District the ability to meet our growing platform tennis membership demand. Platform tennis is an adult, cold weather activity in a social setting. Platform tennis memberships are still available for purchase on the River Forest Park District website at www.rfparks.com.

Washington Square Tennis Courts The rehabilitation of the Washington Square Tennis Courts is complete. The courts were completely rebuilt with a new surface and fencing.
