Whether you are new to painting or want to refine your skills to develop a sharper painting style, this class will teach you the necessary techniques. Through teacher demonstrations one-on-one instruction and class participation, students will be able to enhance their creative abilities.

(INTERMEDIATE – ADVANCED) WEDNESDAYS, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM MEMBER: $90 (4-CLASS SERIES) NON-MEMBER: $115 (4-CLASS SERIES) January 13, 20, 27; February 3 February 10, 17, 24; March 3 March 10, 17, 24, 31 April 7, 14, 21, 28 Focus on a different aspect of plein air painting each week! This class will cover still life as landscape, primary color painting exercises and perspective painting. Classes are held outdoors in the Englewood vicinity, weather permitting. Johan will share his vast knowledge of painting techniques, as well as give you tips for finishing a plein air painting in the studio or moving your painting practice out of the studio into plein air.

Emphasis will be on structure, composition, color, and value, as well as on the creative journey of personal expression. Students are encouraged to bring their own references for inspiration.

This class is designed for people who are interested in learning the fundamentals of creating realistic-style watercolor paintings. In this class, students will learn color theory, the use of perspective, 25 watercolor techniques, and complete a simple watercolor painting. The subject of this reference painting must be provided by the student and a non-copyrighted image.
