The Confused Collage Group

Originally, I was going to interview the Challah group with their abstract Challah pizzas. But while walking towards the multipurpose room, one room caught my eye. Room 4, or the Collage group’s room stood out amongst the other groups. Their room was cluttered and chaotic, with magazines and scrap papers scattered everywhere. When I walked in, no one seemed to notice me, which gave me the idea that they were dead focused. I went up to my sister Kira, and her best friend, Sara, who seemed to be working on a collage word. I asked them what they were doing and their answer was very vague, “Sara’s having a lot of trouble cutting out the letter E.” When I questioned them more thoroughly, I found out they were making the word love out of paper. (Cheesy, I know.) Then I asked them, “What does this have to do with the collage?” They didn’t seem to know. I then realized they really didn’t know what they were doing. They admitted it themselves as Sara said, “We don’t really know, or care about what we're doing.” To me that’s REAL behind the scenes of what actually goes on in a chug!

Even though this was very disorganized, I will admit, the kids seemed

to be having a lot of fun. I also will say I am not saying that the chug is bad. I visited again on the next chug day after I wrote most of this and saw that it was way more organized and the kids were getting along well. They were making a food collage. Just keep in mind, it was their first week of chug when I first interviewed them. So overall, sure, it was a little crazy, sure it was chaotic, but it got better and that’s all that matters. (I’m becoming so cheesy.)

Interviewing students in the Newspaper Chug!

While I was interviewing Walter, he said that he loves drawing, and draws everyday! He chose to write a knockoff comic of the gingerbread man to be funny.

I also interviewed Max. He was doing an article about the Western Wall. He chose that because he loves history, and Marla recommended it. His sources were Google and The Western Wall Foundation. FIrst he studies the topic then starts to take notes, then writes about it!

Interviews With Rimon Students

Today I interviewed Hannah and Louise.

Hannah’s birthday was February 8th!! (Birthday shoutout to Hannah!) Hannah picked the Legos chug because she likes to build Legos. She also likes art!!! Her favorite Jewish thing to learn about is Noah’s ark, and her favorite Jewish holiday is Hanukkah.

Louise's birthday is August 4th, and he picked the Legos chug because Legos are a fun thing to build when bored. Her favorite Jewish thing to learn about is Moses. Lastly, her favorite Jewish holiday is Purim!

THESE STUDENTS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Legos

I interviewed people in the Lego chug today. I interviewed Isla. Isla said she is doing it because she loves building. .Julian said he is doing it because he also likes building but he said if you think about it, you can build anything with Legos if you put your mind to it. Legos is building trees for Tu B’Shevat. When I saw all of the Legos, they made me want to plant trees.

The Western Wall

The Western Wall is a famous and religious site in Jerusalem. It is on the temple mound compound and near the Dome of the Rock, religious to the Muslims. It is over 2000 years old. It was the sight of the first and second Temple. The Western Wall is 13 meters and weighs 570 tons. It is made of limestone. It has 45 rows of stone, 28 of these are above ground and 17 are below. That means the western wall is partially underground! From 1948 to 1967, because Jerusalem was cut in half, the Israelis had the west and the Jordanians had the east of the western wall. During these years the western wall was off limits to the Jews. At the Western Wall people put notes in the slots. They put them in so God can read their notes. The Western Wall is a religious site and I hope you go there someday!

Challah Challah and More Challah

The challah chug is making candy challah. Candy challah is challah that is cut up, cubed, buttered, and then caramelized by getting fried in a pan. It looks like this chug is having fun. They say they make a different challah every week. They said they made a pizza one last time and that sounds delicious. I loved interviewing challah challah and more challah.

MADRICHIM INTERVIEW!!!

This is just one madrichim interview that I plan to write. I should have one or two more in our next issue!!

ALEX NELSON

Q: Do you like your job?

Alex: YES!!!

Q:What is your favorite thing about Rimon?

Alex: Helping kids.

Q: Where do you live?

Alex: Radnor PA.

Q:What do you do when you are NOT at Rimon?

Alex: I volunteer at a hospital, teach karate, play sports, and I am vice president of the Toasty board.

Lego Builders

I interviewed the students in this chug. They were building houses. Unfortunately, they did not have any Lego mini pictures to be able to build inside of the house. For instance, they did not have people or bathrooms, or kitchens. One of the students said her favorite thing to build were castles. They looked like they were having a lot of fun building what they were building. I think they really enjoy this chug.

We interviewed the people in the Challah Chug while they were busy in the kitchen. They are making challah french toast. Their batter was made out of eggs, milk, cinnamon sugar and chocolate. Students like this chug because they get to cook which they enjoy. The best part is tasting their creativity since they get to eat what they make. They were making the entire thing. The teacher was telling them what to do but they were doing everything. What they are making is totally their creation because they are doing most of the work.

NEWS FROM THE RIMON ZONE

This chug is very cool since they are turning recycled stuff into art which is really hard. And they were making incredible Jewish stars. They are also making flowers which are really good. The flowers are great artistic visions. They look like they are having a really good time. They are also really organized and they are concentrating so they are really quiet and peaceful.

Freedom March

I made a picture that shows the meaning of Passover and the way it started with Moses leading the Jews to freedom. I think it looks like a great masterpiece which shows how you can think of Passover. You can think of this as the freedom march. I think you can learn something from this picture. Check out the picture on the next page!!
