From the Chair of the Board

I am pleased to provide you with some brief commentary on the 2013-14 year.

From the Board’s perspective the most significant event in the year was the endorsement of the new strategic plan. The Headmaster has covered some of the detail in his report so I will limit my comments to saying that the process was fulsome and was developed with the involvement and participation across the entire Ridley Family – students, alumni, board, faculty, management and parents to be specific. I believe that the future for the school is bright and the direction ahead clearer. I look to Ridley’s future with optimism!

Certainly the election of Georgina Black ’85 as the new Board Chair in September was also an event of significance. Georgina will bring positive and energized leadership to the Chair, and I wish her the very best of success as she leads the Board in its support of the school and the implementation of its plans and ambitions.

From the community’s perspective surely the celebration of our 125th year deserves mention. The many events that took place throughout the year and culminated in the BASH at the school in September were exciting and successful. Countless hours in both the planning and event execution were undertaken by volunteers from across the Ridley family and I would like to acknowledge their wonderful efforts. Ridley is fortunate indeed to have a community where so many care and equally so many commit. This is vital to the lifeblood of the school and, on behalf of the Board, I thank those of you who step up and give back.
