Dear Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool Community,
It is with deep appreciation and pride that I share with you this year’s Gratitude Report, reflecting on the 2024–2025 school year—a truly extraordinary chapter in our school’s history.
This year marked Ridgefield Academy’s 50th Anniversary, a milestone that invited us to celebrate five decades of learning, growth, and community. From the vibrant 50th Anniversary Gala last fall to the joyful Spring Soiree this May— and every gathering and celebration in between—our campus was alive with connection, pride, and purpose. We honored long-standing traditions while looking toward our future, all while reaffirming the core values that have shaped RA/LP into the thriving community it is today.
The pages that follow offer a snapshot of the many ways our students, faculty, and families made this year special. They also reflect the incredible generosity and dedication of our broader community. Whether you supported the school through a philanthropic gift, volunteered your time, joined us for an event, or simply cheered us on from afar—thank you. Your presence and participation, in whatever form it took, had a meaningful impact.
Looking back, the 50th Anniversary has served as both a celebration and a springboard—reminding us of all we have accomplished together and inspiring us as we look ahead to the next 50 years.
Thank you for being part of this momentous year and for all you do to support Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool. Together, we are building a legacy of excellence, one that will serve generations of students to come.
With gratitude,
Tom Main Head of School

Dear RA/LP Community,
As I reflect on the 2024–2025 school year—our school’s 50th anniversary—I am filled with pride and gratitude for this remarkable community. This year offered a powerful reminder of all that Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool have achieved across five decades, and more importantly, the strong foundation that positions us for a vibrant and exciting future.
Thanks to the generosity of more than 250 donors, nearly $650,000 was contributed to the school this year through key philanthropic priorities—including the 2024–2025 Annual Fund, the 50th Anniversary Gala, and the Patriot Legacy Fund. Your support sustains the core of our mission: inspiring students through exceptional teaching, dynamic programming, and a deep commitment to belonging and community.
This year held personal meaning for me as well—watching my daughter, Sasha ’25, graduate during this milestone year was both joyful and poignant. As Joe and I look forward to our son, Simon ’27, returning to campus this fall, we do so with renewed gratitude for the vibrant learning environment, close-knit community, and opportunities for growth that continue to define the RA/LP experience.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for your continued investment in RA/LP. With our eyes on the future, we are thoughtfully laying the groundwork for the next 50 years—building on what makes our school exceptional while ensuring that we remain responsive to the needs of our students and families. I look forward to the year ahead with optimism and deep appreciation.
With gratitude,
Rachel Sondheimer P’25,’27 Chair, Board of Trustees
Financial Overview
Strong fiscal stewardship remains a cornerstone of Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool’s ability to deliver an exceptional educational experience. Guided by the Board of Trustees, the school continues to balance traditional revenue streams—including tuition and philanthropic support—with strategic initiatives such as investment income, facility rentals, and summer programs.
Philanthropy continues to play a vital role in advancing our mission, enriching both the student experience and the overall strength of our operations. The following summary reflects the unaudited financial results for the fiscal year spanning July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. revenue, gains & other support
A CONNECTED COMMUNITY:
the geloso family’s commitment to ra
When Chris and Lauren Geloso P’33 enrolled their daughter Rosalie ’33 at Landmark Preschool in fall 2021, they were seeking more than just a school— they wanted a true community.
“We wanted a place where our child would be known, supported, and encouraged to thrive,” they share. “From day one, RA felt like the right fit. The teachers are caring and committed, the academics are strong, and the focus on character, kindness, and family partnership sets RA apart.”
Since joining the Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool community, the Gelosos have been enthusiastic and generous participants in school life. Lauren has served as a RAPA grade representative and Secretary, chaired the Holiday Bazaar, and now is Lower School Vice President and New Family Liaison.
For the Gelosos, giving their time is a way to stay deeply connected.
“Volunteering helps us feel more connected to the school, the families, and the everyday experiences our child enjoys,” they explain. “RA has a warm and welcoming parent community, and what we appreciate most is that everyone contributes in a way that works for them.”
Whether helping during Fall Family Day, co-chairing the PS/LS Spring Fling, or welcoming new families, the Gelosos see each moment as a chance to strengthen the community. “These small acts create special moments and a connected community,” Lauren says.
Their support also includes giving to the Annual Fund. “The Annual Fund makes everything we value about RA possible, including dedicated teachers, strong academics, meaningful programs, and a vibrant school community,” they share. “Contributing is a way of giving back and helping RA continue to provide an exceptional experience for every child.”
The Gelosos are a true testament to the power of community, connection, and shared commitment—and an inspiring example of how meaningful involvement can positively shape our school.
RA HAS PREPARED ME WELL FOR THE CHALLENGES IN HIGH SCHOOL, BOTH IN SPORTS AND IN MY CLASSES.
—Josie Getchell ’24
Sam’s time at Landmark Preschool/ Ridgefield Academy laid a powerful foundation. We are incredibly thankful for every teacher from PS to 8th grade who helped shape him in ways we never could have alone.
—Shelby & Brian Rotunda P’24
We are always happy to support our alma mater!
—Chris Denzel ’01 & Anni Leff Denzel ’02
It is important to us that our children feel seen for who they are as learners and individuals. We are so grateful for our RA experience!
—Alexa & Rodrigo Pessoa P’25,’31
[Our children’s] paths are a testament to the value of curiosity, courage, and thinking differently—values first instilled at Ridgefield Academy.
—Donna Murphy P’08,’11
RA’s education encouraged Robert to take steps to discover who he was and what direction he chose for his life’s activities on his own.
Thank you, RA!
—Cathy & Keith Thompson P’15
THE WAY RA FOSTERS CURIOSITY, CONFIDENCE, AND A LOVE FOR LEARNING MAKES A LASTING IMPRESSION. WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR RA’S DEDICATED AND THOUGHTFUL APPROACH.

Annual Fund Donors
The RA/LP Annual Fund plays a vital role in the life of our school. As our most important yearly fundraising initiative, it provides essential, unrestricted resources that support roughly 6% of the operating budget. These flexible funds make it possible to recruit and retain outstanding educators, foster a vibrant and inclusive community, enrich learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom, and care for our expansive and inspiring campus.
We are deeply grateful to the 200 members of the RA/LP community who contributed more than $420,000 to the 2024–2025 Annual Fund (July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025). Your generosity helped make another remarkable year possible!

50th Anniversary Gala
On Saturday, November 2, 2024, our community gathered to honor Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool’s 50th Anniversary. The Gala was a joyful and elegant evening, filled with laughter, connection, and reflection, as nearly 175 current and past parents, faculty, staff, and friends celebrated the legacy and future of our school.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors, auction participants, and guests, the event raised more than $200,000 in support of financial aid. This remarkable investment will help ensure that RA/LP remains an inclusive, mission-driven community for generations to come. We are deeply grateful for the partnership and investment of all those who participated.
