Tonight’s Patron For 146 years, Davenport has maintained the values and entrepreneurial spirit that characterized the firm originally founded in Richmond, Virginia by two business partners, Isaac Davenport, Jr. and Charles E.Wortham. In 1921, Coleman Wortham, Sr., a greatnephew of the founder, became president of the firm and purchased a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. The firm maintained its seat until 2007 when the Exchange merged with the fully electronic exchange, Euronextsm. Today, Davenport & Company employs over 430 people at its Richmond headquarters and 14 retail branch locations. Davenport continues to uphold its solid reputation for attention to detail and personal service.
