Profiles of Success Sept. 7, Phoenix Convention Center North Ballroom Profiles of Success, now in its 28th year, is Valle del Sol’s premier fundraising event that recognizes Latino leadership in the Valley and launches National Hispanic Heritage Month (which, you guessed it, is September). The celebration will begin by awarding this year’s Profiles of Success Honorees followed by a lunch and silent auction. Funds raised from the luncheon will help give hope to the men, women, children, families and elderly of Valle del Sol. General admission, $100; Premium, $200. Noon1:30 p.m. www.valledelsol.com. Waves of Change for Epilepsy Gala Sept. 15, Mountain Shadows Resort Hosted by The Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona, the 14th annual black-tie gala brings the island allure of Cuba’s capital city to the desert with a “Havana Nights” theme. Attendees will enjoy cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and more. The Foundation will be honoring Mayo Hospital’s Joseph Sirven, MD, with the Commitment to Epilepsy Award and art therapist, Eden Wenda with the Extraordinary Service Award. Hailey Scheinman, President and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation of America’s Kids Crew initiative, will serve as the keynote speaker. Wine Women & Shoes Sept. 15, Chateau Luxe Fresh Start Women’s Foundation’s Wine Women & Shoes, presented by Petsmart, is all about helping women reach new personal heights while also donning cute heels. Attendees of the signature luncheon will enjoy premium shopping and world-class wine tastings. A selection of local and national vendors will set up shop, offering oneof-a-kind jewelry, accessories, makeup and more. There will also be lunch, a fashion show and an auction. Guests will also get a chance to win their dream closet by entering a thrilling “key to the closet” contest. Phoenix Children’s Festival Sept. 22, CityScape This fun-filled festival is dedicated to the kiddos, ages 3-12! The second annual event brings a heap of activities, themed adventures, live entertainment and food for families to enjoy. The little ones can get their hands on interactive and educational attractions, while parents gain crucial information and resources regarding their children’s overall well-being and health. Attractions on the roster include a rock climbing wall, bouncy castles, water slide and more. While admission into the festival is free, rides, food and other attractions will have separate fees. Beta Dance Festival Sept. 22-23, Phoenix Center for the Arts Third Street Theater Local dance artists and companies will showcase their talent as they perform innovative and captivating dance works. The festival aims to celebrate and strengthen the diverse, multifaceted Valley dance community, celebrating folk dance, urban and street styles, fusion and experimental work, and classical and concert dance, all under one roof. Sept. 22, 7 p.m.; Sept. 23, 2 p.m. $15. www.phoenixcenterforthearts.org. 10th Annual Heels for Healing and Diva Dash Sept. 29, Flo’s on 7th Florence Crittenton is all about changing the future for Valley girls and young women, and this event helps to make that possible. The day begins with Diva Dash, a high-energy relay race where racers wear fabulous heels. After breaking a sweat, racers and guests are invited to cool off with some serious shopping at Flo’s on 7th. Here, designer shoes, handbags and clothing will be up for grabs at a fraction of the retail cost. Every purchase made will support Florence Crittenton’s programs, all of which empower girls and young women in the Arizona community.
