The newly opened Sel is already among the most buzzed about eateries in Scottsdale. Chef Branden Levine – of Café Monarch fame – has a clear focus: To provide a contemporary, yet eclectic, dining experience in the heart of the Scottsdale Art District. Available on both Sel’s $70 prix fixe, four-course menu and a la carte for $40 is Levine’s Seared Maple Leaf Farm Duck Breast. Perfectly seared with wonderfully crisp skin, the meat is paired with golden peaches that have been compressed with local mesquite honey and lemon juice, as well as white wine-braised fennel, nutty black quinoa and fire-roasted baba ghanoush. It’s finished with a pinot noir-duck stock reduction. The result is earthy, rich and firing on all flavor cylinders. 7044 E. Main St., Scottsdale; 480.949.6296; www.selrestaurant.com.
