CULTURAL CENTRE

The Falmouth Cultural Centre is intended to be a dynamic focal point within the community of Falmouth, serving as a catalyst for cultural expression, education and exchange Its main purpose is to promote and advance the region’s rich cultural and architectural heritage by employing the diverse tapestry of Jamaican traditions, history and identity

As it is located off Falmouth’s main thoroughfare, and is embedded within the established historic district, the centre aims to offer an array of programs, events and resources that resonates with both locals and tourists alike Through exhibitions, workshops, performances and interactive experience, the centre serves to nurture a sense of pride, belonging and interconnectedness among individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Central to its mission is the practice of Adaptive Reuse, in which the dilapidated historical structures are revitalized and repurposed to serve contemporary needs of Falmouth. Through this strategy, the cultural centre preserves the physical remnants of Falmouth’s past and breathes new life into these spaces, transforming them into vibrant hubs of cultural engagement, social cohesion and artistic expression

RINSLO PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

The Rinslo Performing Arts Centre was inspired by the concept of the jamaican dance entitled 'Breadfruit.' The dance steams from a dynamic combination of up and down and dipping movements. In imitating these movements, a curved steel frame was conceptualized as an exo-skeletal piece that would form the primary structure of the building.

As a Performing Arts Centre, it was pertinent to mimic the fluidity of the dance which was suggestive of the impact that this project could have on the urban fabric of the city of Montego Bay. As it will accommodate Jamaican song and dance performances, this concert hall will serve as a cultural connector and further enhance the hip strip

FUSION GARDENS

Fusion Gardens is a 6-storey mixed use structure that was designed for integration within the Kingston Gardens area. The concept behind the form development is the push and pull forces of the site which opted for a challenge to fuse both disadvantages and advantages into unity.

In maintaining this harmonious coexistence, the structure serves to cater to the existing locals while inviting new residents and boosting revenue through the proposed commercial units the main amenity space is a roof garden which is featured on the first, third and fifth floors. This feature also feeds into the building's sustainability as there is a water catchment system embedded in the green walls along the garden areas which re-utilizes the water for the growth and development of the gardens.

CONVOTWINE TOWERS

The Convotwine Tower is a forty (40)-storey mixed use urban conservation project proposed for the area of Downtown Kingston in the year 2092

It is designed to withstand the harsh climatic conditions of the tropical region while still maintaining elegance and attraction.

The design was inspired by the craft of Jamaican art where weaving can be used as a cultural linkage between the past, present and future of architecture and culture in Jamaica.

Also woven into its design, is a green spiral that wraps the entire structure which creates a spacious and lucious roof garden on every floor.

PROPOSED MUSIC PARK

This proposed green space was designed for a community in East Kingston (rural) The design aims to promote unity and togetherness amongst the residents through the use of music and entertainment.

The design features a stage for live performances as well as sustainability features for low maintenance of the property. It provides an area where residents can find peace, safety and exchange. Its playful layout was conceptualized from the idea of music being the root of the community and therefore it influenced the rhythmic movement of people through the green space.

This project was managed by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund amongst other Community Development organizations
