RHI’S MONTHLY REVIEW MEETING FOR PEER EDUCATORS

RHI’s Monthly review meeting @ Oda

As part of continuous effort to enhance effective service delivery of her peer educators in line with National

HIV/AIDS prevention plan, RHI often conducts monthly review meeting with them. The said meetings which were held on 19th, 20th and 21st June, 2012, respectively for ISY at Ogbe High School, Oda, OSY and GP at Oda and Boards, sought to reinforce HIV prevention messages and ad-

dress various challenges encountered by the peer educators during peer sessions. Interestingly, the forum is often being used to counsel and attend to their personal needs; particularly needs that are within Radiant’s capacity to handle.

A CHURCH IDENTIFIES WITH THE POOR A group known as “Prayer Warrior” in Ebenezer African Church at Amudipe, Akure , has over the years stood out to impact lives positively especially during its annual anniversary. This year anniversary takes a dramatic turn as the group deems it necessary to visit our office in this regard. In the course of the visit the group affirmed that having closely followed our air charity programme on Adaba Radio, they have the conviction to identify with us in reaching out to the less privileged this year. While interacting with the group, our boss seized the opportunity to engage Pastor Ajayi I.B, one of the group’ s representatives that

came, to expound why people often don’t tithe and the importance of tithing. Pastor Ajayi I.B, in his reaction stresses that the problem with people regarding tithe is selfishness; he however advises people to brace up effort to overcome this attitude, and thereby walk-

ing into their respective breakthroughs as they obey. The group donated a bag of Garri and Salt, 4 bags of Rice and cash to RHI. The visited crew of the group include Oluseye Adebanjo –the incumbent president of the group, Evangelist Oke Ogunode, and Olu Adeyemi –the Bible reader. Mrs. Remi Oluborode, RHI’s CEO, on behalf of Radiant, expressed her profound gratitude to the group for the kind gesture, and earnestly pray that God will reward them here on earth and in the life to come.

RHI SAVES A FAMILY Mrs. Bukola Ademola hails from Oke-dasa in Idanre, but presently residing at Omi-Ala in Akure. She visited our Akure’s office where she intimated our boss with her ordeal. It is gathered that since her husband lost his job life has not been easy to cater for her five children; worse still, for the past one year now she has not been hearing from her husband who traveled to Lagos for greener-pasture. This necessitated her visiting our office for whatever assistance to bail her out of her present predicament. Without hesitation, RHI gave foodstuffs, cloths and cash as part of effort to attend to her immediate needs. She was later asked to bring four witnesses, who are very aware of her present ordeal in her

next visit. Of a truth, the witnesses came and said nothing less or more than what Mrs. Bukola Ademola had previously briefed us. On this note, we decided to air her story with the singular intention to intimate the public; responding to the programme, good people donated cash out of which #15,000.00 has been given to her to float her Rubber and food Vendor business.

Mrs. Oluborode RHI Director presenting cash to Mrs. Eunice Olaleye

Mrs. Eunice Olaleye hails from Arigidi Akoko in Ondo State. She is married with 8 children. Her marital challenges started when her husband asked for her cooperation in using their first born, a boy for money ritual; her disagreement to this suggestion eventually led to the dissolution of her marriage by Court.

Shortly after, the boy became mad, and presently he is still under treatment. In an effort to cater for the upkeep of her children, she engages in stone blasting and washing of clothes; even at this she could not help the situation as she is the only one catering for the children. After a thorough interrogation with our boss, she was given foodstuffs, cloths and transport fare by RHI; later asked to bring 3 witnesses in her next visit. Having brought the wit-

It is pertinent to tell our dear readers that this isn’t the first time HANDEF has demonstrated this kind gesture to RHI. The recent RHI’S visit to HANDEF became imperative with a view to attending to three people who were in dire need of wheel chairs to ease their conditions. HANDEF’S representatives at the event were Mr. Odekoya Mattew, coordinator and Mrs. Arohunmolase Oluwatoyin, pro-

gram officer. Mrs. Remi Oluborode, the executive director of RHI, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to HANDEF, particularly to Mrs. Olufunke Agagu HANDEF’S CEO, for her initiative to set up such an organization in our society.

RADIANT’S MAINTENANCE BEHAVIOUR EXERCISEE This month’s maintenance behavior exercise drew quite number of people particularly our peer educators alongside their peers to the occasion. The exercise which was held on 28th and 29th June, 2012 at Oda and Board respectively, obviously emphasized mentoring of the peer educators alongside their peers on HIV/AIDS and other health related issues. Drama is the strategy employed to reach out to them. The drama is titled as follows: SAY NO TO STIGATIZATION AGAINST PEOPLE living with HIV/AIDS. The lesson drawn from the drama is that our peer educators including their peers should show love and care to anyone who is infected with the virus around them.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT When i see people in a place or position that seems like where they don’t want to be. I am sure they won’t spend much time in such place; rather they will move on to the next level. So, never treat a man or woman according to the place he is currently because he/she is not going to be there for long. However, the memories of those things you do to him or her will remain with him or her forever. On this note, Radiant humbly impresses on the mind of all including you our dear reader who have joined RHI in setting the pace to impact lives positively, never to give up in this clarion call; Galatians 6:9 says, And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
