I am delighted to share with you details of the Sports Scholarship assessment opportunities at RGS Worcester. We believe that Sport is about more than results: it builds resilience, teamwork and confidence, while encouraging individual ambition and enjoyment
Our Sports Scholarships recognise pupils who demonstrate talent, promise and dedication, and provide them with the coaching, support and facilities to achieve their very best. Through our Athlete Development Programme, pupils benefit from structured strength and conditioning, performance analysis and tailored mentoring. This holistic approach ensures that every young athlete, whether aiming to represent the School, their county or beyond - is supported to grow both on and off the.
My role as Director of Sport
As Director of Sport at RGS Worcester, I oversee the breadth of sporting opportunities across the School. With over twenty years’ experience in nationally successful programmes, an MSc in Professional Development in Sport Coaching and as a Level 4 Coach and Coach Developer, I am passionate about ensuring that every pupil, whatever their sport, has the support and guidance to develop their skills, character and enjoyment of the game.
Netball at RGS Worcester
Miss Rebecca Gwilliam leads our Netball Programme and also oversees the Worcester hub of the Birmingham Panthers PDP (U19) and ETP (U16) pathways, which are both based at RGS Worcester.
As a UKCC Level 2 coach and qualified Sports Therapist, Miss Gwilliam brings both experience and energy to her role. She currently captains Worcester Reds and also works with Switzerland Netball, supporting elite athletes through high-performance therapy. A former Netball Scholar herself, she represented England at the FISU World University Championships, gaining invaluable international experience.
Miss Gwilliam works alongside our Netball Professional, Miss Amy Sly, and Mr Ollie Biddle, Head of Strength and Conditioning, to deliver a high-quality programme that develops technical ability, game understanding, physical literacy and long-term player development.
