Economists play a central role in contemporary society. They are to be found at key positions in politics, policy-making, journalism and the private sector. The voice of economics carries more weight than any other social science discipline, some even argue that policy today is primarily based on economic foundations, rather than normative or moral ones.
It is therefore of vital importance to train and prepare future economists well for their leading role in facing the wide range of challenge the 21st century presents.
This research aims to provide a systematic quantitative investigation into the content of economics bachelor's degrees in the 9 Dutch universities which offer such programs, accompanied by a foreword from William White of the OECD.
