E x o t i c Marrakech with its eclectic mixture of modern and ancient, desert and city, Arab, African and European, has always attracted savvy honeymooners and jet setters. It’s fashionable to buy a riad and have it renovated into a vacation getaway for yourself, friends and paying guests. This makes an impressive array of design, décor and amenity options amid the utmost luxury. The wave of artists, designers and tastemakers with swanky riads make it fun and fascinating to riad hop, or at least dine or cocktail at a few. A pink walled medina, historic ‘old city’, lively Djemma El Fna Square, a huge vibrant souk perfect for indulgent retail therapy, tasty tagines, a cultural biennale attracting eminent international artists and swanky riads with pools and spas - Marrakech may be the chicest place on the planet.
