All candidates applying to Repton must be registered by completing our Registration Form which is available from the Admissions department (admissions@repton.org.uk).
All applicants will take our entrance examinations and may choose to take either our Academic Scholarship papers, which consists of three written papers, or sit our General Entry tests, which consists of an online CAT4 Test and a written problemsolving paper.
We also offer John Port Scholarship papers for pupils currently attending John Port Spencer Academy, which consists of three written papers.
All candidates will also have a general interview with a member of the Senior Management Team via Teams
References will be requested from current Headmasters prior to the examinations and offers of places will be based on performance in the academic tests and a satisfactory school reference (with predicted GCSE grades).
Entry to the Sixth Form is subject to a minimum requirement of six grade 6s at GCSE. Candidates must achieve at least a grade 6 at GCSE in a subject to be studied at A Level, it is anticipated that candidates will achieve a grade 7 in Mathematics, science or in a modern foreign language IF they wish to take those subjects at A Level.
Sixth Form offers are made on 1 December.
Candidates choosing General Entry will sit an online CAT4 Test which assesses Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning. Candidates will also sit a writing and problem-solving test Candidates will sit the tests either at home or at their current school if the school is willing to invigilate.
Candidates will also have a general interview with a member of the Senior Management Team via Teams.
Once registered you will be contacted by our Admissions team to arrange the General Entry tests.
Sixth Form offers are made on 1 December.
All candidates may also apply for scholarships in Art, Design & Technology, Drama, Music or Sport.
The value of a Scholarship may vary from an honorary (or titular) award up to the maximum value of 10% remission of the Repton fee It is the school’s usual policy to limit the value of awards to 10% and should your child sit for more than one type of scholarship, and is successful in more than one, then the combined value of all awards will not exceed 10%, although they will be entitled to the full titular prestige of all the awards won.

In recognition of Sir John Port being the founding benefactor of both John Port School and Repton, one or more scholarships may be offered each year for places in the Sixth Form at Repton for John Port pupils.
Candidates will sit three written papers in subjects of their choosing at Repton following a successful online interview with a member of the Senior Management Team. Interviews will take place in the weeks prior to the examinations.
Candidates are expected to take examinations in three of their intended A Level subjects and should be on track to achieve mainly grade 7s and 8s (or above) at GCSE
Scholarship papers are available in Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physics, Religious Studies and Spanish. The time allowed for all papers is 45 minutes
The Scholarships could be substantial and will go beyond the 10% cap where necessary, given individual parental financial circumstances. Parents will be required to submit a confidential statement of financial circumstances before the offer of any award is made.
The awards will be based on academic achievement and on contribution to extracurricular aspects of school life. Offers will be made on the basis of school report, interview and examination in three of a candidate’s intended A Level subjects.

Sport Scholarship applicants will be invited to present themselves for assessment at Repton School Practical assessments will be conducted by the Director of the individual sport concerned along with their senior coaches.
Sport Awards (Scholarships) are awarded at 16+ to pupils of exceptional potential Awards are made to pupils who we believe will be able to make a significant contribution to our senior 1st Team It is, therefore, likely that recipients of any major award will have played, or have the potential to play, their principal game not only at county but also at regional or national level
Scholarships are available for both boys and girls in five of our focus sports: football, hockey, swimming, tennis, cricket and for girls in netball
Scholarships are reserved for the most able of performers, and we expect that any recipients will be the leading team players or individual performers at Repton, making an outstanding contribution to the success of our school sport.

Repton’s Year 12 Scholarship assessments take place in November, and we would highly recommend that applicants apply as early as possible as we only have a limited number of places and scholarships available. However, as football academies do not release players at U16 until December, we also run a second process for football in February/March However please apply as soon as possible as once all our available scholarships have been awarded then there will be no more for that recruitment cycle.

Scholarships at 16+ will only be awarded to pupils who are of the required standard, character, and motivation to participate on the Performance Programme. Please ensure you have read about the requirements of the Performance Programme before applying
It should also be noted that any pupil within the school whether a scholar or not, can be invited onto the Performance Programme if they reach the required standard

Hockey at Repton is set up to develop any young aspiring hockey player to fulfil their potential Our year-round programme for both boy’s and girl’s 1st team players combines world class facilities, top quality coaching and a competitive fixture calendar. Repton’s Hockey programme is renowned and has been extremely successful, winning 50 National titles and producing multiple junior internationals with many players going on to compete at the last five Olympic Games.
Uniquely, this is supported perfectly by Repton Hockey Club, allowing our pupils to compete in the National League throughout the year, both indoor and outdoor Scholarship offerings are limited and it is advised that players apply early to have the opportunity to join a proven first class hockey programme.

Design & Technology at Repton is a challenging and dynamic subject, where pupils can expect to develop their creative thinking and problem solving skills whilst exploring theoretical topics relevant to the current industry.
Design & Technology Scholarship applicants will be invited to Repton for an assessment with our Head of Design & Technology. The assessment will last approximately 40 minutes
Candidates should bring a paper or digital portfolio of their current design work (it need not be mounted) and photographs of any three dimensional work which is too difficult to transport.
Candidates should be prepared to talk about their passion and interest in design, as well as their portfolio, in an interview with the Head of Design & Technology.
Successful candidates would be expected to take Design& Technology at A Level.

Drama at Repton offers rich, dynamic and creative ways to study how theatre is made, inspiring pupils to explore their dramatic and expressive skills as performers or designers. Drama Scholarship applicants will be invited to Repton for an assessment with our Director of Drama The assessment will last approximately 30 minutes.
Candidates should prepare a 2-3 minutes monologue for performance, followed by an interview with the Director of Drama where they will be expected to talk about their passion for and interest in the theatre.
Theatre design candidates are also welcome and should bring a portfolio of their work (it need not be mounted) and photographs of any three-dimensional work which is too difficult to transport
Successful candidates would be expected to take Drama & Theatre A Level

Music Scholarship applicants will be invited to Repton for an assessment with our Director of Music The audition will take place in the Music School and will last approximately 40 minutes.
Candidates should prepare two contrasting pieces on their first instrument or voice (which should be of at least Grade 5 standard). It is important that these pieces reveal the candidate’s musical ability and potential but equally are not likely to trip them up under pressure.
Ability on a second instrument (or voice) is usual but not mandatory; candidates should prepare two pieces for this (and on any subsequent instrument), although in the event we may only listen to one On all instruments presented, candidates may be asked to sightread a piece appropriate to their level.
All candidates will be given some ear tests, as well as being asked about their musical interests and experience in an informal discussion with members of the Music Department An accompanist will be provided, and each candidate will have the opportunity to rehearse immediately prior to the audition. Please bring two extra copies of your music, one for the accompanist and one for the Director of Music.
As a condition of any music award, all Music Award holders are required to play or sing in ensembles as required by the Director of Music throughout their time at Repton
