The Town of Renfrew has had a busy 2016 accomplishing a number of key projects, and elected officials are looking forward to 2017. Renfrew Mayor Don Eady says his favourite thing about 2016 was the completion of the infrastructure on Plaunt Street and Veterans Memorial Boulevard. “It changes the aspect of how the Town of Renfrew looks especially if you are driving in fresh off the highway,” said Eady. Another thing he is proud of is moving the town forward in a new direction. “I think (we are) starting to put the town in a different direction for economic development with the new website, etc., which I think will (put) Renfrew more on the map and be way more visible and more of an exciting town,” said Eady. As for 2017 he says he is looking forward to the Canada 150th celebrations. “We are hoping for music for a whole week from Ma-Te-Way to the main street and ... art, culture, music and lots of heritage displays as well as different types of events that people really want to get done,” said Eady. “It will hopefully be a very lively summer for the Town of Renfrew. I think it is going to be a different type of year in Renfrew with lots of different things going on and I hope it will be a really good, fun year.” Reeve Peter Emon says there are a number of things that tie together for his highlight of 2016.
