General Assembly of Isännöintiliitto on 18th October in Helsinki - Marko Hellevaara from REIM Group con nues in the board

One of the guests of honor at Suomen Isännöin gaala was Anne Berner. She gave an impressive speech about owning and commi ng. She is also the Chairperson of Perheyritysten Lii o (The Finnish Family Firms Associa on) in which Finland’s former Prime Minister Ma Vanhanen acts as the CEO. In addi on to this Anne Berner is known for the successful project Uusi lastensairaala 2017 (New Children’s Hospital 2017) and from the TV series Leijonan luola (Dragon’s Den).

General Assembly of Suomen Isännöin lii o (The Finnish Real Estate Management Federation) chose their new Chairperson, Ilkka Saarinen from Tampere, from the suggeson made by the elec on committee. Jyrki Makkonen was chosen to be the first Vice President and OlliPekka Hyyryläinen was chosen as the second Vice President.

The board of the federa on was chosen by vo ng and now all the eleven places in the board, in addion to the leadership, were filled.

Marko Hellevaara from Hämeenlinna got the most votes of the new board members. He is the CEO of REIM Hämeenlinna Oy and he is a member of the REIM Group Operave Board. CEO of REIM Group Saija Toivonen was chosen to con nue being his personal vice member.

On the same evening the first Isännöintigaala (Real Estate Management Gala) was arranged in the legendary Kalastajantorppa in Helsinki.

All the chairmen of the ten-year-old Isännöin lii o performed in the evening gala. From the right is the first Chairperson Pär Björnström, then his follower Mikko Peltokorpi, the newly chosen Chairperson Ilkka Saarinen and the outgoing Chairperson Jari Porthén. Isännöin lii o was founded ten years ago when Suomen Isännöitsijälii o, Isännöin yritysten lii o and KIHO combined to be one federa on.

Suomen Isännöin lii o chose a new Chairperson as the former one finished a er several terms. In addi on to this it chose all the places in the board based on which the federa on now has a new federal government.

CEO of REIM Hämeenlinna Oy and a member of the REIM Group Opera ve Board Marko Hellevaara was chosen to con nue as a member of the board of Isännöin lii o. He got the biggest amount of votes in the elec on for a new board. He thinks that trusteeship and coopera on in real estate management and in the whole real estate business is very important for ge ng results.

NaƟonal Real Estate Management Days 4th to 5th September 2014

The ten-year anniversary autumn of Isännöintiliitto brought slight changes to the principles of previous years.

This year the general assembly was not held on the eve of Isännöin päivät (Real Estate Management Days), instead it was moved to be in October. The purpose of this change was to make the role of the Chairman in Isännöintiliitto clearer and now the possible change of Chairpersons does not affect the attendance of Isännöin päivät.

Isännöin päivät 2014 was held on 4th to 5th September as the weather was almost as warm as in the summer. The honor of the anniversary affected on the choice of locaon for the event. Previously the loca on has changed annually but now Finlandia Hall in Helsinki was chosen to be

the seminar loca on for the second consecu ve year.

The program of the seminar delved into current jurisprudence and constructing methods as well as into solving everyday problems.

In the expedi on departments everyone could find something interesting to them. It was remarkable that most of the coopera on partners are also seen at customer objects where the usage of opera ves was wide.

This shows the federation’s way of operating according to the customer’s personal benefit and the services for our customers are not necessarily centered to one and only opera ves.

Customers have an authenc possibility to choose their coopera on partners from a wide variety of opera ves.

This year the general assembly was held on Saturday 18th October. The day was chosen because it was wished to have the assembly on the same day as Isännöingaala was held on Saturday night in Kalastajantorppa.

This year the general assembly was a break for both the members of the board’s as well as the leadership’s terms. The elections were surely exci ng for everyone interested up un l the elecon.

REIM Group and DNA start cooperaƟng REIM Group has raced the mobile switchboard that was in use. DNA was chosen to be the new provider.

This change will happen before the end of this year.

The services provided by DNA Oy brings new quali-

es to the mobile switchboard which means more tools for the personnel in customer service. The aim of this change is to further improve the customer experience of REIM Group.

Anu Itäniemi – Year 2014’s REIM Person his year’s REIM Person was named in the XXIV Annual Personnel Day of REIM Group on 29th August in Lappeenranta. She is bookkeeper Anu Itäniemi from REIM Kymi.

Arguments for choosing her were as following: Anu Itäniemi has managed the customers in the bookkeeping office of REIM Kymi in Kuusaa better than anyone else. This was also her 15th year of working for REIM Kymi.

She comprehensively manages her customers’ bookkeeping, taxaon and payroll computa ons. She is

always interested in the fact that the job gets done right according to the constantly changing legisla on. Anu Itäniemi keeps herself up to date and is clearly excited about her job, but is not afraid to ask for help if some issue is hard. She is trustworthy and she understands the importance of quality in the challenging world of bookkeeping.

Anu Itäniemi is an exemplary worker in customer service with both external and internal customers. She is always ready to help and there is no such job that is not part of her job

Facebook is a good tool to reach current and new clients, partners and other operatives in the field fast and effectively. Most of the people follow social media in real me on their phones, tablets and computers. They always keep themselves updated.

We just want to tackle the media that makes it possible for us to reach these people who are important to us.

At the same me I believe that Facebook brings us closer to people. Facebook is not that official a informa on channel as newsle ers and briefings. In Facebook we can show people be er what is happening with us and that we are also just people.

How do you as the ICT Professional of REIM Group vision Facebook?

Who is it meant for?

Facebook has already taken its place in people’s minds on the same level as calling or text messages. It is a “normal” way to act and communicate. On some level Facebook, WhatsApp and other services have already replaced more traditional ways of communica ng. I think that Facebook is for each and every one.

As an ICT Professional I do, however, advice people to be careful with what they post about themselves on Facebook or otherwise on the internet. This also applies to companies that use Facebook. Even though there are privacy se ngs on Facebook and you could imagine

that only a small group of people sees it, there is always a possibility of an outsider ge ng to the information.

Let’s be careful in the curious world of the social media. Once in the internet, always in the internet.

How is REIM Group going to utilize Facebook and what is the meaning of Facebook to REIM Group’s customers and stakeholders?

REIM Group is aiming to u lize Facebook for adding coverage and for distributing information to its customers and stakeholders. On Facebook we will tell about important issues we think are important to be shared with others.

I believe that in the current society it is important to be available and to be able to reach people when needed. People want to get all informa on here and now.

Before people used to wait for brochures or newsle ers that include all the news of the month but now people want to have the information immediately. One-month-old news is already “old news”. I think that Facebook offers us this possibility without closing off something that we are already using and that has proven to be good. We will con nue making the already tradional magazine Isännöin sanomat (Real Estate Management News), newsle ers, publishing news on our home page and informing on the home pages of housing companies about issues important to them.

The CEOs of REIM Group gathered together on 28th August in Scandic Hotel Patria in Lappeenranta.

It was a traditional mee ng a day before the annual Personnel Days of REIM Group.

This year the Personnel Days was arranged by REIM Lappeenranta Oy.

Hanna Koskela, the current chief manager of ARA, gave an introduc on that awakened thoughts and discussion.

Sales Manager Reijo Salmi from Kone Hissit also gave and introduction about current issues.

XXIV Personnel Days of REIM Group in Lappeenranta Already for the 24th me the personnel of REIM Group gathered together for the Personnel Days on 29th to 30th August 2014

Kari Peltola, CEO of REIM Lappeenranta Oy, welcomed close to a hundred of REIM people from around Finland to Lappeenranta. This year Lappeenranta was responsible for arranging the event and the arrangements were excellent.

Towards Parliament elec ons!

Next April the Parliament elec ons are arranged in Finland. This means four years has gone since the last parliament elec ons. Then the biggest winner was perussuomalaiset, True Finns, who went straight into the opposition. After the election results it was difficult to form a government. A so-called “six pack” was born, a government of six par es that cover the whole poli cal color map.

This proved to be impossible and at this point there are only four pares le in the government with only a slight majority of members in the parliament.

From those posi ons the government of this country has been forced to work in difficult condi ons. Global depression and especially the financial difficul es in Europe with all their

suppor ng of the banks, structural issues with unconditional renewal needs in Finland, as well as the decaying of the compe veness have been present every day. In October Finland’s credit class was lowered from AAA to AA+. This costs a lot in interests to the government, which means us tax payers.

Finnish standard of living, which is very good when viewed internationally, is fully dependent on export. It is absolutely necessary for us to keep up our interna onal compe veness.

The fact is that there are difficult and challenging decisions to be made in the future. They will cause the addi on of deduc bility and volunteering. With the approaching parliament elec ons more and more poli cians will dream of a place in the parliament on Arkadianmäki and they will promise all kinds of nice things and

hocus pocus tricks to the people. It is irresponsible. It is even more irresponsible to vote for poli cians like this.

Na onal demand is not going to li Finland back up, and if we cannot get our exports back up we are in big trouble. The crisis in Ukraine caused

by Russia with its sanc ons was born in a very unfortunate me and place.

Russia is, a er all, one of our biggest trading partners.

Finland’s na onal debt has grown almost 70 percent from year 2008.

Even though the public sector has been made more effec ve in the past few years, its costs will con nue to grow for at least the next three years.

Effec veness has to be taken into account also in the future. The parliament, the legislator, takes care that the pain from this is divided as evenly as possible.

Real capital and working capital is nowadays moving freely in the global economy. However, real estate cannot be moved as it stays on its

place. This has been no ced by the tax authori es both in Finland and interna onally. By doing this it is totally forgo en that our country represents the top of the list in taxa on in Europe. The parliament sets the tax legisla on so the members of parliament are essen al decision makers in this issue, as well as in others.

The parliament elec on of spring 2015 is important. It is desirable that responsible, honest, capable and competent poli cians will get licenses from us, the people, for important decision making at Arkadianmäki.

The next parliament will have the members that the people deserve. I will definitely be vo ng.

Real Estate Managers of Päijät-Häme in Krakow Real Estate Managers of Päijät-Häme is an active organization in the domain of Suomen Isännöintiliitto.

Saija Toivonen, CEO of REIM Group, is leading the organization already for the fifth term as decided at the annual meeting on 18th June 2014.

The organiza on does an annual trip with its members somewhere abroad.

This year the des na on was Krakow, one of the historical ci es of Poland. The trip was a ended by twenty ac ve members of the organ-

ization and six cooperation partners.

Kone, as an interna onal Finnish company, presented along with its professionals their opera ons in the country of almost forty million inhabitants. A er this there was a bus transfer of about an hour to Salt Mine Wieliczka.

When everyone had arrived the travelers went 164 meters underground which is a lot over 700 steps. The trip only went one way, downstairs. The interes ng guided tour of three hours told a

lot of interes ng new things about the riches known as salt and its world of ancient salt digging.

Finally when the travelers started to wish about ge ng into the fresh air and bright light they saw a modern elevator. It was made by Kone and it took the travelers back up to the 21st century civilizaon in three groups.

The day was finished by dinner at Ogniem i Mieczem, a restaurant where everyone got to know the local gastronomy.

On the next day a tour was done to the concentraon camp of Auschwitz. The day was sad and gloomy.

Saija Toivonen stated that it is impossible to use words to describe the affect this experience had on her.

The atmosphere followed everyone to dinner. The loca on was one of Krakow’s finest, restaurant Wierzynek, right in the heart of the old town.

Saija Toivonen wants to go back to the visit to Auschwitz by saying: “I think everyone should see at least once in a
