TARI DAYAK: GONG & GANTAR DATUN KENYAH KALIMANTAN TIMUR

OLEH WIDYA LUVTARI - GEELONG

This dance is a story of Dayak Kenyah tribes who live in East Borneo’s jungle.

The performance begins with a Gong Dance to represent an Enggang bird. The bird dance on top of sacred gong to attract other birds in the jungle.

She has destructions from Dayak hunter who tries to hunt her. She was rescued by a group of farmers who perform a Gantar Dance.

This dance depicts a movement of farmer planting rice. The stick illustrates the beater while the bamboo and grains inside it illustrate rice seed and the container. Commence at: The performance will be ended with 6.15-6.23pm Datun Kenyah Dance which represents a happiness during harvest time and blessing of a good health.

TARI TORTOR GONDANG BATAK SUMATRA UTARA

OLEH WIDYA LUVTARI - GEELONG

Tortor Dance is a dance that moves a rhythm with the music (Margondang) played with traditional instruments such as gondang,flute, trumpet hobo, and others.

According to the history of dance tor-tor used in rituals associated with spirits, where the spirits are summoned and “enter” to statues of stone (a symbol of the ancestors), then the statue was moved like dancing but his movements stiff.

Tortor Batak also describes the experience of the life of the Batak people in their daily life, happiness/ pleasure, reflection, prayer/ worship, crying, to desire, ideals and expectations, and so forth can be reflected in Tortor Batak.

Gondang Batak instruments are usually played in wedding’s traditional Batak and in various other events.

Especially if the show was displayed typical Batak dance, called Tortor.
