Can you share a bit about your background and experience that uniquely positioned you to identify and address the challenges in traditional skincare application, leading to the creation of Lunaescent? How did your background and personal journey influence the development of this innovative skincare tool? I always had a knack for thinking outside the box. When I was a child in Iran, I had a journal titled “My Book of Inventions,” where I jotted down solutions to problems that I encountered — complete with working diagrams. I was a tinkerer and loved using my dad’s toolbox to build simple machines. These instincts came in handy when I encountered practical problems later in life.

Can you share the inspiration behind creating Lunaescent, especially considering the challenges posed by traditional skincare application methods? My son was diagnosed with eczema as a toddler. Throughout his childhood, I had to apply topical steroids to his eczema patches using my fingers. Because steroids thin the skin, I developed dermatitis on my fingers. I noticed that I was absorbing as much medication through my skin as he was. Also, because of the absorption into my fingers, I had no transparency as to the precise dosage of medication that was making it onto his skin. I searched the Internet for a skincare application device and was amazed that no such tool existed. This is how the idea of the Lunaescent touch-free applicator was born. After redesigns, our applicator is now a multipurpose beauty tool — ideal for the application 20

We can’t fix what we didn’t know back then, but can try and apply what we know now to new clean beauty products. It’s always fun to create new scents, combine new and different ingredients, and play around with shades and colors. After the development, our process is very simple. We have four base formulas that go on to make all of our different product lines. We stagger which products we make on which days and have found it to be a great system for us.

Indiana is now home for you. How has this location influenced Corsica's growth, and what role does it play in your ongoing journey of curating memories and experiences in exotic destinations around the world? Indiana is a wonderful place for me and the company. It is nestled between both coasts, and easily accessible to north and south for shipping and distribution, plus travel to fashion and swim shows. It’s a business-friendly state, which we love. It’s a nice base to come home to after travels. We have done a few location shoots, but it’s also very easy to take our travel-friendly products on family trips and grab some social media content. Last year, my family did an Antarctica trip, and we all packed lots of Corsica products. This year, you might see Corsica in Japan and Italy!

I’d like us to be a brand that people want to exist. We give back to the community and our products make your life simpler, better, and easier.

Being deeply involved in both Corsica Scents and Corsica Sport, how do you balance the challenges and joys of entrepreneurship, family, and your personal passions? What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the clean beauty industry? When you do something that is a passion then it really isn’t work, and I’m fortunate to have family and friends involved with the Corsica Scents and Sport brands. Challenges - those are always there. But without failure, you can’t have success. It’s how you learn and get better. My advice for those wanting to pursue a dream - don’t be afraid of failure. Learn from it and don’t allow yourself to get defeated. Surround yourself with talented, trustworthy people, and do not waste your time on anything for which you have no passion.

As the final days of the much-anticipated exhibition, "Botticelli Drawings," drew to a close at San Francisco's Legion of Honor, my dear friend Melanie and I found ourselves reflecting on the unforgettable journey we had embarked upon through the timeless works of Sandro Botticelli. From the moment we stepped foot into the grandeur of the Legion of Honor, we were captivated by the allure of Botticelli's artistry. Over 60 exquisite works adorned the walls, each a testament to the Renaissance master's unparalleled talent and visionary genius. As we wandered through the galleries, Melanie and I were transported to a bygone era of beauty, grace, and artistic brilliance—a world crafted by the hands of a true master. A Feast for the Senses: Melanie was particularly enchanted by the intricate details of Botticelli’s study of the head of a woman in profile, aptly nicknamed “La Bella Simonetta.” The graceful lines and ethereal beauty captured in this piece left her in awe of Botticelli’s ability to breathe life into his subjects.

Botticelli Drawings is the first exhibition ever dedicated to the drawings of Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli (ca. 1445 – 1510). Exploring the foundational role drawing played in Botticelli’s work, the exhibition traces his artistic journey, from studying under maestro Fra Filippo Lippi (c. 1406 – 1469) to leading his own workshop in Florence. Featuring rarely seen and newly attributed works, the exhibition provides insight into the design practice of an artist whose name is synonymous

with the Italian Renaissance. Botticelli’s drawings offer an intimate look into the making of some of his most memorable masterpieces, including Adoration of the Magi (c. 1500), which will be reunited with its preparatory drawing, surviving only in fragments. From Botticelli’s earliest recorded drawings through expressive designs for his final painting, the works on display reveal the artist’s experimental drawing techniques, quest for ideal beauty, and command of the line.

Discovering Hidden Gems: As for me, I found myself captivated by Botticelli’s study of the figure of Minerva. The meticulous attention to detail and the dynamic energy captured in this drawing spoke to me on a profound level, offering a glimpse into Botticelli’s creative process and artistic vision. But it wasn't just the drawings that stole our hearts. Botticelli's iconic paintings, carefully displayed for all to admire, served as the crowning jewels of the exhibition. From the ethereal beauty of "The Nativity of Christ (Mystic Nativity)" to the serene grace of "Virgin and Child With the Young Saint John the Baptist," each painting evoked a sense of wonder and reverence, leaving us spellbound by the sheer brilliance of Botticelli's vision. As we bid farewell to "Botticelli Drawings," Melanie and I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience such an extraordinary exhibition together. The memories we had created, the moments we had shared, and the beauty we had witnessed would stay with us forever, serving as a reminder of the transformative power of art.
