Reddam House endeavours to provide the highest level of excellence for its students. We encourage our students to learn independently as this will prepare and equip them with the necessary skills required at university level and beyond.
Modern day technology is integral to everyday life and we wish to build the flexibility these advances have brought into every classroom and away from the use of computer labs.
This aims to increase their capability to communicate and collaborate effectively, whilst also giving them the necessary tools to improve their IT skills.
Device requirements for students are as follows:
1. Students must have a laptop computer for use in class when needed by the teacher for research.
2. Should you not have a preference, the Reddam IT Department’s suggested device is the Surface Pro.
3. Students must have administrative rights on the laptops, as specific settings require approval as an administrator.
The school strongly recommends that students choose a laptop device, as listed in the table below, to ensure that their BYOD maximizes their learning experiences.
The school will provide each student with Office 365 (cloud-based Microsoft Office suite) and a Google G suite account (Cloud based Email and Document creations tools). All devices prescribed will be configured to connect to our Wi-Fi network and be allowed to access computing resources within school premises whilst having capability to use the Google cloud-based storage platform, Google Drive. A technology levy will be charged and will include the costs of all education software and software tech support.
