NEW CODE VSB6 J4 PROVIDES HUGE OPORTUNITIES FOR INCLINOMETERS.
Code VSB6 J4, to be released in July 2023, requires new specifications when designing a tipper body for a motor vehicle. Code VSB6 J4 relates to all aspects of tippers such as safety, hydraulics, warning devices, etc. Hummingbird Electronics’ range of stability monitoring devices adhere to the new code and will assist customers in the OEM Truck and tipper body manufacturing market. These devices include Inclinometers and Tilt Switches that focus on improving the safety of mobile machines. According to the new code,
“A truck fitted with a tipping body should have an overturn angle of 7˚ or more when the tipping body is raised to the full stroke of the tipping hoist.”
Hummingbird’s stability monitoring devices provide operators with an output that can
prevent the tipper body from rising further, ensuring safety. However, this feature can be overridden by pressing the enter button, allowing the tipper body to be brought down safely. This functionality aligns with the new code’s expectation, which states that, ‘The vehicle maybe fitted with a device, such as an inclinometer, that is interconnected with the tipping mechanism and will prevent the body from raising any further if loss of lateral stability is detected.’
Furthermore, the devices offer visual alerts and an audible buzzer warning, key features that were made clear to have by the new code...
‘The inclinometer outputs a signal to a buzzer or other sound generator within the vehicle cabin which may also incorporate a tell-tale.’
FUTURE DRIVEN.
The industrial, mining, civil, defence, transport and machinery hire industries continually strive to improve safety, not only for the operators of their equipment, but also for their machinery. The costs associated with near misses and reported events is huge, not only in terms of time and money, but also for people’s lives.

Code VSB6 J4 will continue to highlight the benefits found in quality products like Hummingbird’s Inclinometers and Tilt Switches.

Every year on the 21st of May, World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is celebrated around the world. It highlights, not only the richness of the cultures, but also the essential role of inter-cultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development. The REDARC Health & Wellbeing Team recently established a Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Group, to celebrate this day and the culture of the 34 countries represented in the business.
Diversity refers to the differences, both visible and invisible, that exist between people including age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, culture, religion, or disability.
It’s the power of diversity that drives our culture. Inclusion enables diversity to thrive. An inclusive corporate culture welcomes equal access to opportunities and resources to all, no matter their diversities.
REDARC’s Diversity & Inclusion Group’s purpose and objectives are to raise
DIVERSITY
awareness of diversity and inclusion issues across the company and further establish initiatives for an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming workplace.
It’s essential to enable those of all backgrounds and identities to feel respected, connected, and able to contribute.
The group worked on posters, bringing in employees representing ten different countries to provide their inputs about their country, culture, tradition, delicacies, facts, history. Flags from these ten countries were also hung proudly in REDARC’s lunchroom at Lonsdale’s Head Office, Lonsdale West, Mulgrave, and Williamtown.

The initiative started as a dialogue amongst the business regarding the wonderful and amazing world in which we live.
Sitansu Sekhar, REDARC’s Biomedical Engineering Lead and member of the Diversity and Inclusion Group explains,
“It was an amazing learning experience for the group and all the employees reading through the posters and getting to know more about their colleagues.
Personally, I enjoyed the entire process of talking to individuals, getting to know more about them, reading through different facts and putting it all together into different colourful posters.
The group focusses on nurturing cultural competence, empathy, communication, and inclusivity and will continue celebrating the diversity bringing in rest of the countries and their representatives in future.”
To create a lasting impression on the business, small initiatives like these are essential in breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and building bridges of communication and collaboration that we still face as a nation.
