Summer E-Guide 2017

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR We are pleased to bring you the Richland Parks and Recreation 2017 Spring-Summer Guide. The following pages will provide you with information regarding a variety of activities brought to you by the City of Richland and our partners. We have prepared a diverse portfolio of offerings intended to appeal to all ages and interests. We are especially excited about two specific projects: First, we have completed a beach and shoreline stabilization project in Howard Amon Park that will protect cultural resources and provide a much needed sandy place to enjoy the Rivershore. It’s exactly what the community has been asking for and will prove to be popular! The City now has 120’ of new sand to feel between our toes. A follow-on, second project will widen the Riverfront Pathway in part of Howard Amon Park this year. Second, we’ve completed a full renovation of our sand volleyball courts at Leslie Groves Park. It’s a top tier facility including special sand that will not compact. The surface will stay soft for effective and safe sand volleyball play. I hope you get an opportunity to enjoy the new amenities. As always I appreciate the opportunity and the privilege to manage your park system and please do not hesitate to track me down in the Community Center or out in the field.
